I like how you post this confidently like you have any idea who Slowik is, or what he can and will do as OC. Just comical. Your cynicism isn’t cool or edgy.
That’s a big one for the Texans. Because if Slowik succeeds he will probably become a HC somewhere…and the qb coach would be the next OC here.
Question now is, with the hiring of Slowik and with Demeco saying he wants a QB who can make the defense guard 11 on 11....meaning a QB who can use his legs as well. Who is the pick? Young? Stroud? Levis? Or Richardson? The 49ers wanted a RUNNING QB, and so will the Texans
This goes two ways IMO unfortunately. Either he does really well, and is a HC in 2 years, or does horribly and is fired in 2 years. I don’t think there will be a gray area either. Hiring Johnson and Kubiak(if he is actually coming) is good insurance for this situation.
I am a Texans cynic for sure. Trash organization. As for Slowik, I do know who he is, and he doesn't have remotely the background of a Kingsbury, so if they passed on him for Slowik, that is stupid. If Kingsbury didnt want the job that's a different story. Will he be any good? Maybe. Maybe not. The jump to OC from where he's been in the past though is huge. Look it up for yourself.
Kingsbury has failed upward his entire career. He wasn't good at Texas Tech and got fired and got an OC job with USC, which lasted all of 2 weeks or so before getting the HC gig with Arizona, where he failed again and got fired. His entire resume is that he coached Mahomes and Manziel, but he couldn't win even with Mahomes. The only reason he was hired at AZ was to build his dream offense with Kyler Murray and he failed at that too. He's also the guy that benched Baker Mayfield.
That is ultimately the problem you want to have though. I mean you want everything to be going so well that someone else hires him as a HC. If other teams are starting to poach from our coaching staff then that means things are going really well.
