http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/order.html You see them drafting. I see a wide reciever or Defensive or Offensive Lineman.
I'd say O or D line. If not that, I think they would probably go cornerback again over another WR. We already have two good quality WR in Gaff and Andre. The third slot can be filled by one of the many talented WRs we have as depth. Probably Armstrong, who has shown flashes of brilliance at times. Personally, I'd like to see them use a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a top level TE, if there is still one available.
Will Derrick Johnson be available at 13? He is a playmaker. We need a defensive playmaker, especially at linebacker. I would seriously consider moving up to get this guy.
Not a chance. He'll be gone quick. The offensive and defensive lines have to be addressed. Of those two positions i would take the best available player on the board at #13.
If we can't get a top flight Gaurd in the 1st then I say we draft the best available OLB, CB, DT, or SS
I kind of hope we trade down for extra picks although I don't know if that's possible with the 13th pick. We have too many needs to trade up. Given our track record of drafting in the late rounds, I'd feel pretty good about trading down for an extra pick or two.
I doubt the Texans draft a DLinemen in 1st unless the guy is a monster. That said, monsters are drafted in top 4. I expect the Texans to draft two Dlinemen in rounds 2-4 if they don't trade up for Rolle, DJ, or another defensive playmaker. Oline is possible in first, but I see the Texans drafting an interior lineman in the 2nd or 3rd to replace Weigert or Mckinney. Baas of Michigan looked pretty good against Wright of Texas and he might still be there in the 2nd rd. I'm hoping for a middle linebacker to replace Foreman or a corner to replace Glenn.
Get an offensive lineman! At pick no. 13, and considering the college prospects, it will be an impact type pick...
13 won't be high enough to take either of the elite OTs in the draft, D'Brickishaw Ferguson (if he comes out) and Alex Barron, and it's likely to high to take the top guard Elton Brown.
I'd kill for Derrick Johnson, but that ain't happening. I'll predict now that the Chiefs trade up to get him. They've never been able to replace Derrick Thomas since he passed away and DJ might just be the one to do it. I don't think that OLB is a necessity. Babin came on late in the season. Wong is still good. I wouldn't mind if he moved inside and Peek got the start on the outside. Either way, we will see a lot more of Peek in 2005. I don't think that Seth Payne will be back. I hope they cut every member of the OL. So, obviously I think that O & D line has to be the main priority. Also, there is the going to be the possibility that Tony Banks won't be back. He has said if he can get a starting gig somewhere he will be gone but he will stay if it means being a back up. If he's gone, do any of you want Dave Ragone to be the one behind the one? I don't. CB depth might be an issue if Faggins gets a deal elsewhere. Personally, I'm fine with the WR depth. A better O-line will make Carr, AJ, DD and the other receivers better. I think Derrick Armstrong can be very good in the #3 role.
Line, line, line and line. Might as well stock up on DL's if Capers ass gets fired next year and they have to play a real defense, cause this 3-4 thing ain't working out the way its supposed to.
Don't know what you call a "real defense", but Pittsburgh and New England both run a 3-4. It's an execution problem, or a Xs and Os problem, but the 3-4 scheme itself is proven to work.
Hell, I thought the Texans traded their 2005 1st round pick for Babin in 2004...Anyway, an OL & DL is a necessity, not a luxury...
It's almost as bad...they traded half of their 2004 draft for Babin. A 2, 3, 4 (and a swap of picks in the 5th). I still have high hopes for Babin (Capers has a reputation for developing LBs), but year one was a little underwhelming (based on what we traded away). We have all our picks this year, plus the Cowboy's third rounder (Henson trade). I'll ditto what everyone else is saying - our needs are in the trenches. We need to build quality depth at just about every position though.
