Wow, it sucks for Taylor. He was so excited to beat out Antowine Smith.

And Robairre Smith being cut really surprised me

I was about to put RD in the NFL busts thread...He wasn't as good as he was in college...A lot of Wisconsin RB's aren't...But I guess Kubiak knows best...

I think this was more of a function of Dayne already being familiar with Kubiak's scheme. I'm not expecting him to be an effective back by any stretch. Houston probably has the worst RB situation in the NFL with Lundy, Morency, and Dayne.

I guess since they passed up on Heisman winner Reggie Bush, 99 winner Ron Dayne makes up for it......

I think these guys will have an opportunity to make a name for themselves.

Worst RB situation? That's just stinkin' thinkin'.

Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns all were 1,000 yard rushers for the Broncos - and relative unknowns

Dayne apparently fell behind Bell & Bell in Denver camp due to a nagging injury.

He can be effective for us. He really can.

Yep...this situation feels exactly like the Broncos before those guys broke out.

Hopefully next summer we will be talking about trading 1000 yard rusher Wali Lundy for an all-pro safety (ala Portis for Bailey) as Domanick Davis gets fullly healthy.

I've never been a Dayne fan 1) because I felt he stole Ricky's record when he wasn't really an elite RB, just one who played early and often in Wisconsin and 2) he got a lot of hype in NY. But, he's a Texan now, and it's not like he's a bad guy, so I will get over it and support him. He does give us a different dimension with his size and familiarity with the system.

Doesn't really matter because he sucks.

    Better than Wells though.

Yeah, but these are the Texans, not the Broncos.

For someone who apparently hates the Texans so much, you sure do post a lot about them. It's like one of us real Texans fans going into a cowboy's forum just to talk s***.

Oh, and I'm sure that the Texans would have beaten a terrible, awful Rice team by more than 1 point.

I read that even though he's a relativley big back, he isn't really a between the tackels, goal line or short yardage back....that just makes him an insurance policy if something happens to Wali or Morency; somebody that could be plugged in in an emergency and would know the assignments.

That's basically it. He never was a between the tackles type of player, even at his size. That has been the greatest knock on him throughout his career. Hopefully, Taylor will be signed to the practice squad (if he hasn't already) just in case Dayne doesn't cut it.

I'm sure Antowine Smith is in better shape & is faster than fatboy Ron Dayne.

The Texans signed Ron Dayne about 2 hours after I put Wali Lundy on my fantasy team. Uggh.

Ron Dayne should not impact Lundy's performance. I would be much more worried about Morency.

Guess I'll put this in this thread. At Texans site, they signed LB Roy Manning to 53 man squad and added FB Robert Douglas and DT Anthony Maddox. Anyone know anything about these guys?
