Assume We win out and Denver wins 1 more game, NE wins the NFC East there is one wild card spot left. Miami is eliminated b/c we would hold tie breaker Need Titans/Steelers to lose 1 game [should happen] Jets 2-2 or worse [toss up] Balt 2-2 or worse [toss up] Jack 1-3 or worse [unlikely] I posted this in the Andre Johnson thread This is what would have to happen for the Texans to make the playoffs [not going to happen] and imo to validate Kubiak keeping his job
That could've gone here, esp. considering our super slim chances: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=177748
As long as the Texans win out the scenario is actually more likely than people are considering. Jacksonville can easily lose to Miami this week, to Indy the following week and @NE in week 16. That game vs. Miami is huge. Jets finish up with Atlanta, @Indy and Cincy. They can easily lose all 3 of those. Like I said in the Game thread the biggest obstacle (other than winning out, ) are the Ravens. They play Detroit, Chicago, @Pitt, @Oakland. Hopefully Oakland continues to play better.
The AFC isn't wide open, it's falling apart. I see Denver locking in one WC spot, and the other's a tossup. The Jets are supposedly not playing Sanchez this week, Pats are sort of imploding, and who knows what is going on with the Steelers. Its good that we can still watch the games knowing we still have a chance despite Chris Brown's/Kubiak's boneheadedness.
Things are looking good as far as 1st halfs go. Jax is losing, Denver's losing. New England is still a tossup, and the Jets won't lose their place this week.
This week played out about as well as can be expected. Assuming the Texans win out we still need the Ravens to lose 2 of their final 3. This is unlikely but not out of the question.

hilarious, anyway the texans needed the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets to lose. I guess everything couldn't happened. Also, Titans up 23-0 on St Louis at half
9-7 with all those close games...the fumble at the 1 yard line, the stopping on the goal line, 2 missed FGs late. That to me shows improvement....they just need one more year if they go 9-7. DD
If the Pats clinch the division before the last game will they have anything to play for against Hou?
If they clinch the 2nd seed, or the division while the Chargers or Bengals clinch the 2nd seed, by the final week, then yes, the Pats won't be playing for anything of consequence against the Texans.
Momentum into the playoffs. No way they give the Texans a game at Home just for resting their starters
If Brady is still banged up then I don't see him playing if they are already in. That's all it will take for the Texans. Hopefully.
After today's games, I think this is what we need to happen (assuming we win out): Ravens to lose 2 of 3 (against Bears, @ Steelers, and @ Oakland) Jags to lose 2 of 3 (against Colts, @ Pats, and @ Browns) Jets to lose 2 of 3 (against Falcons, @ Colts, and Bengals) Titans to lose 1 (against Miami, Chargers, and @ Seahawks) I think we would actually own the tiebreaker with the Steelers based on common opponents. Looking at that, it is possible, but highly improbable because if just one of those teams wins 2 games, we are out.
If we aren't eliminated after the next two weeks, then this conversation will be interesting. As of now, meh...
