If you had asked me 2 months ago, this would have been a yes, but the more I think about our first 5 weeks, and even more specific, our opening game at the Steelers, I just don't see us winning that game....which in turn would take us from 10-6 (and the 6th playoff berth) to 9-7. 9-7 isn't going to be enough to earn us a spot this year, but it would be a marked improvement, and a HUGE step for the franchise. A lot of people have us winning that game against Pittsburgh, which would go a LOOOONG way in getting us our first ever playoff berth, and believe me, I would GLADLY eat crow if the Texans did win that game....I just don't see how we are going to go into one of the most hostile environments in the NFL in the first week of the season, and pull out a victory against a team that lost a shocking game at home in the playoffs last year. That Pittsburgh team is going to have a lot to prove, and with the additions of Mendenhall and Limas Sweed, that offense is going to be SICK. The only way I see us winning that game is if our D-Line goes BUCK on Big Ben.
I agree that if we were in a different division we would have a better chance. But I am still excited about this team this year.
Training Camp starts today!!! I will be there tomorrow morning to watch. We have a tough early schedule, too many road games early. But I am forever the optimist (see user name), so I say YES, playoffs this year.
I'm going to say yes. I predict the AFC South will look like this in the end... 1. Jacksonville 2. Indianapolis - wild card 3. Houston - wild card 4. Tennessee - who gives a crap?
Yes 10-6 Does anybody have a league have a better threesome on defense than Ryan,Mario, and Amobie? (potential) If this team just had a top CB they'd be a top 5 defense . But another year of schuab and anyback but Ron Dayne and the running game is guaranteed to improve this is a very solid team.
Yes. Three teams in the AFC South is going into the post-season this year, and the Titan ain't one of them.
Division is simply too tough. ANY talk of playoffs is at least 1 year premature as there are question marks at QB, RB & CB. Like the Rockets, this team has to show that it can stay healthy before it can begin to move upward.
No. The team should be improved, but the division and schedule are too tough. 8-8 9-7 is probably the best case scenario (unfortunately)
I will say yes but it could easily go either way. We finally have depth at every position (except corner, but were not thin there either assuming dunta makes it back half way through the season). If AJ stays strong and healty WR is a strength. RB's are deep enough and talented enough to get the job done. I feel we will have a top 8 offense this season(could be top 5 if everything falls into place). Our Defense is talented but the question is will they finally piece things together? If they can play as a unit this defense can be a top 8 defense(when we get dunta healthy top 5).... But the problem is the jags and colts are in our division(yeah thats right we will sweep the titans this year ) if we split 1-1 with the colts and jags will will Make the playoffs this year!
I just changed my vote. Yes, the Texans will make the playoffs, summarily kicking the crap out of the Titans along the way.
Ok, I voted (yes) with my heart, but the Texans are gonna have to get some breaks for it to happen - they are overdue for some breaks....
I voted Yes. I see us winning some close games that normally they would have lost, but prevail getting the wild card. It's a tough schedule, but it will be fun to watch either way. I can't wait.
