(9/03/07 - KTRK/FT. BEND COUNTY, TX) - Neighbors in an exclusive neighborhood are stunned that a robbery happened right next door. And only Eyewitness News has learned the victim is Houston Texans football player Dunta Robinson.

    ROBINSON'S CAREER
The Texans drafted Dunta Robinson out of the University of South Carolina with the tenth pick in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft. Robinson won a starting job as a rookie and has started all 48 regular season games for the Texans in his three-year pro career. Robinson has nine interceptions and one touchdown score in his career.
We've learned the Texans defensive back was tied up as the robbers searched his home in Commanders Point, a gated community in Ft. Bend County.

On the field, Robinson is known for holding his own against bigger, stronger receivers. But in his home on Saturday afternoon, there was little he could do when faced with two robbers with a gun.

The 5'10" 174 pound Texans defensive back was alone, according to the team, inside his million dollar home when two men with red bandanas covering their faces entered through an unlocked door.

Ft. Bend County sheriff's detectives say as one robber searched the Texans player's house, the other held a gun to his head, forced him to the ground and bound his arms and legs with duct tape. They threatened to kill him if he called police. They then got away with seven pieces of jewelry.

"It's shocking," said neighbor Derek Rolle. "We live behind a gate for a reason. It's an extra precaution."

For Rolle, the gate is now little comfort. Know the key code or follow someone into exclusive Commanders Point and you have access to the homes of some of professional sports' biggest names.

According to county tax records, Robinson has lived there for three years, ever since he signed with the Texans. Rolle says there's never been an incident in the community in that time. Now he says he wants to prevent another.

"I'm going to call all my neighbors and hopefully we'll all be able to watch out for each other to see what's going on," he said. "At least we can try to improve security."

A spokesperson with the Houston Texans declined to comment. Robinson didn't return our calls.

The Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Department did release descriptions of the suspects. The first robber is described as a black male, 5'8" and around 160 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, red pants and an LA Dodgers cap. The second robber is described as a black male, 5'7" and around 140 pounds. He was wearing dark sweat pants and a gray T-shirt. He, too, was wearing an LA Dodgers baseball cap.

People really stink. Blame it on New Orleans (even though they were wearing LA Dodger stuff)

Thats too bad for Dunta. Hope they apprehend those guys and give em max time.

I thought gated a gated community had a gaurd at the entrance 24/7. False sense of security if it didn't.

It's really nice of 13 to tell everyone the neighborhood in which all these people live.

Let's just hope he's OK in the head.....

These things can be real traumatic and play games with your mind you up if you keep flashing back to it. Hope the Texans have someone he can talk to, if he needs it.

Man, that's messed up. Same kind of thing happened to my cousin a few years back in his apartment. Reminds you that there are just horrible people in this world.

most of them don't have security at the gate, remember those stalkers who followed yao ming to his home last year. he also lives in a gated neighborhood and the stalkers just drove right behind him pass the gate. :D

Digital Cameras are a must, and they are cheap too, just put them up in the ceiling and you have 24 hour security and video surveilance.

Dude needs to get a penthouse in one of the highrises in town.

    1. Closer to Reliant
    2. Safer
    3. More pimp than living in the flippin' burbs.

I guess I don't fully understand the appeal of Sugar Land where the majority of sports stars seem to live.....

Especially when you are in your 20's!

not a good way to promote your home security system by telling the 1500 houstonians and 35,000 chinese people who have access to this site that you use a silly webcam.

I heard he hired Lonny Baxter, Jayson Williams, Rafer Alston, and Ray Lewis as his bodyguards with Rae Carruth as special council.

agree on points 1-3 but it's Peraland where most of those guys live, my buddy and his old man run a landscaping company down there and they have had dozens of Texans as clients. But yes lots of sports stars live in either sugar land or the west part of town.

This it so true. I was held up at gunpoint 17 years ago, and to this day, I'm still wary of strangers when I'm by myself. Lot's of people talk tough, but until you have a gun pressed against your head by a desperate person, you'll never know what it feels like.
