Man these guys are not worth what we got them for Phillip Buchanon, Travis Johnson, Jason Babin and Morlon Greenwood. ( you can add David Carr too) This team seems to be going backward than forward, the more I look at our players beside AJ and DROD ....... these team doesn't look that good. Teams like Cinn, Jacksonville, and Dallas has improved more than us in the past 3 yrs. PS: How come we dont use our TE like the rest of the league?
Still too early to tell if TJ is going to be a player or not. The players that I think are overrated on the Texans are.... Marcus Coleman P-Burnt Kailee Wong Greenwood Babin Gary Walker Victor Riley (not overrated, just stinks) McKinney Weigert Wade Jabar Gaffney Corey Bradford (just stinks) David Carr Kris Brown (missed too many FG last year)
We are closer to being the 1999 CLEVELAND BROWNS both with #1 pick QB (T. Couch and David Carr) Cleveland Browns 1999 2-14 2000 3-13 2001 7-9 2002 9-7 (maded wild card playoff) Houston Texans 2002 4-12 2003 5-11 2004 7-9 2005 0-2 (miss playoff?)
yes for overrated. no for overrated. just my opinon Marcus Coleman no P-Burnt yes Kailee Wong no Greenwood yes Babin yes Gary Walker yes Victor Riley (not overrated, just stinks) he just stinks McKinney hell yes Weigert no Wade no Jabar Gaffney yes Corey Bradford (just stinks) yes David Carr no Kris Brown (missed too many FG last year) no
It's hard to tell who on offense (other than the offensive line) is overrated considering they have on average 1-2 seconds to let the play develop before Carr/Davis/whoever is engulfed by the entire defensive line.
Don't players have to be decent to be considered overrated? Most of these guys by an NFL standpoint arn't good enough to be considered. Players like Gaffney, Bradford, Babin, and Riley shouldn't even be in the coversation as being being rated, much less overrated.
david carr isn't as good as thought he would be but NO ONE can succeed with that offensive line. NO ONE!!! not elway, not aikman, not montana. that line is one of the worst i've EVER seen. and carr will never succeed with that group. however jabar gaffney is AWFUL. doesn't even turn around for balls thrown to him. just cut his ass.
They're at a significant disadvantage on every play. Even on the rare occasions that the Texans have time to let the play develop, the opposition still doesn't even think about having anyone in the secondary blitz. They can almost always get enough pressure from the front four. Even when the OL rarely holds up, Carr and AJ don't get the mismatches in single coverage that most other quarterbacks/top wideouts can take advantage of several times a game due to blitzes. (FWIW, Carr, Davis and Johnson are all underrated... the fact that they've been able to play - going back to last year - as well as they have with the status of this offensive line is nothing short of miraculous.)
I don't know about Gaffney. I kind of like him. I think we have to get a Qb first and then tell if he is a decent wideout. But I do agree about the Texans taking Gaffney over Portis and DeShaun Foster was a mistake.
If we could go back in time I would have taken Chris Gamble, Kevin Jones, Karlos Dansby, Ben Watson, Teddy Lehman, Julius Jones, Michael Boulware, Keary Colbert, Darnell Dockett, Randy Starks, Jason David, Jared Allen, and many more with that Babin pick. But other than that it was a nice pick by Casserly.
So whose fault was it last season when Carr's numbers started declining over the second half of the season while Davis was still going over a hundred yard a game. Was it the same line that allowed Carr to post over 100 qb ratings in the first half of that season?
Portis would have been a bust on this team. He'd be no better than Tony Hollings. Denver can produce so many running backs because they always have a great O-Line that provides gaps to run through. Our line only produces gaps for the defense to run through.
