Regardless of whether or not we acheived a .500 record, some changes were going to be made.

This thread is about which players you think WILL lose his starting spot, not necessarilly, which players SHOULD.

    My thoughts:

Gary Walker - Seems to barely getting any sort of push into the backfield at all this year.

Seth Payne - Mainly due to him being a FA. Hes come along slowly but surely and seemed to be getting a better push into the backfield in the 2nd half of the season.

Chad Stanley - Has really hit some crappy punts this year, most of them coming in the 2nd half.

JJ Moses - The Cleveland game notwithstanding, his hands have always been solid. However, he almost never makes things "happen" and IMO, this guy absolutely wants nothing to do with getting hit, and he seems to take a dive quite often. I hate to see that.

Jay Foreman - It seems hes always getting killed in coverage, but seems to do decent against the run. We seemed to play better after he was lost to the season with Polk in.

Seth Wand - I really think this guy has the tools and this season was a baptism under fire. But he never could to seem to adjust in game and would continually get beat by the same guy all game long.

Chester Pitts - Is this guy better suited to be a backup? He played the LT spot pretty decent, considering he wasn't drafted as one. He really seemed to struggle at LG, with holds and alot of false starts.

Corey Bradford - Id put my money on this guy not returning to the team at all. Definitely not as a starter. Used to be a great deep threat, but Carr hasn't been able to find him at all this year (probably due to having no time to throw).

Couple of guys who I think might not be back starting (small chance), but didn't have room for the in the poll:

    Steve McKinney
    Marcus Coleman
    Aaron Glenn

JJ Moses- doesn't bring anything to the table. Hits the ground after getting whatever he can to save his small frame from additional punishment

The entire O-line- at least, they should. I'd say Pitts stays simply because he's been with the team the entire time, but everyone else is fair game.

As for some people I think who need to get benched or less PT: Jason Babin in favor of Peek; Foreman in favor of Polk; Bruener needs to be in there for blocking reasons over Miller when it's obvious pass situations.

Props to Kailee Wong and Dunta Robinson though; they've done very well this year and exceeded my expectations for them. Marlon McCree should also see more time, IMO.

The entire line needs to go. The need to spend every penny on an new OL. The top picks need to be used on a pass rusher that can actually get to the QB. I didn't see Peek in once today. Even when he doesn't get to the QB he creates problems.

I would have liked to see Chris Palmer on that list...

Peek had in an injured shoulder and was out of today's game.

Regardless, Peek needs to prove a couple of things before he gets time over Babin. a) Prove he can play pass coverage (which he hasn't come close to doing and b) Prove he can control his emotions (seems like hes getting into it with everyone all the time)

I actually like Babin and think hell have a breakout year next season

Last, Chris Palmer is not a player. ;)

although it could be multiple, JJ Moses barely made the roster this year and even lost his slot for a couple of games. The Texans would much have a return man that can double as a reciever, especially if the return man isn't ever busting for a touchdown.

JJ Moses and Cory Bradford won't be back. Moses best chance to score a TD was against the Jets last season and when you let a guy 280lbs run you down then you will never score as a kickreturner. If Steve Breaston comes out (Uof Michigan) I know the Texans will try to grab him in the later rounds to return kicks. The O-Line is not as bad as people think. Today the O-Line sucked but David Carr just sits back there and holds the ball for about 5 hours and when he is sacked the O-Line gets all of the blame. Carr will be on the hotseat next season and with the fans cheering after he was injured today is not a good sign.

Tentatively Steve McKinney, but definitely some movement on the O-line.

McKinney and Weigert need to go. They get beat the majority of the time that Carr gets sacked or gets pressured. I'll give Wand some slack because its his first year as the full-time LT. Chester Pitts needs to have better discipline at the line, I can't count how many times he has been called for an offsides penalty.

Babin does not look to be what Capers thought he was going to be, but same as Wand, its his first year. Peek needs to see some time on the field more, but someone on this board said it best that a player with his ears pinned back all the time isn't necessarily good. Peek does need to show that he can cover the field as well. Sharper continues to be underrated (how can you lead the league in sacks in 2003, and have 150+ this year and not make the Pro Bowl). Wong had a nice bounce-back year, Robinson should be the Defensive ROY, Glenn showed his skills are diminishing or maybe its a couple of nagging injuries, but offenses quickly started picking on him when Robinson emerged. Gary Walker is old and slow (definitely a bad resigning), I haven't heard any news on Seth Payne (but it didn't look good) and he is a big question mark. Robaire Smith had a great season. I'm still iffy about Coleman's move to safety, and Glen Earl showed flashes at times. McCree is most likely gone after thisseason so the Texans will probably look to get some depth or give Lord a look.

What happened to Kris Brown? A couple of kicks he missed were well out of his usual range, but he also missed a couple of gimmes.

The receivers did rather well, Armstrong looked good early and then faded. Bradford is most likely gone after this season. Andre Johnson had a spectacular season. Gaffney proved himself (@ least in my eyes) that he is a good slot receiver.

As for Carr, I think he had a good season. If only her could get some better protection he could probably do more.

I'm still not convinced that Davis is an every down back, he hasn't stayed healthy an entire season yet.

JJ Moses sucks. Sorry it sounds negative but he never looked close to breaking anything open all season long.

Overall the Texans had a good season, with another good offseason the Texans will definitely be in the playoffs.

When it comes to this stuff you have to factor in contract for veterans, given the nature of the non-guaranteed contracts and the salary cap.

As such, I think you have to look at Gary Walker, and maybe some of the higher-ticket O-linemen, though I bet that some leeway is given to the O-line given that they switched from a man-to-man to a zone scheme, and it'll be convenient to believe that that was the cause for many of the o-line troubles this year.

Given their contracts, if these three aren't starting, I'd bet that they get cut.

As much as it pains me to revolt against an Aggie, Steve McKinney definitely needs to go. When it comes to playing O-line, Steve McKinney plays like Steve McQueen.

Moses and Bradford start cleaning out your lockers......

As mentioned before holding a roster spot for a guy who only returns punts and kicks and cannot contribute anywhere else is rediculous. I for one will advocate CB PacMan Jones from WVU. He makes some mistakes but has a lot of upside and regularly returns kicks. I wouldn't take him in the first but after that I'd definitely consider him.

Bradford had a monster season in year one with absolutely no other offensive threat. This season he's paired with a probowler and a good possesion reciever and nothing... I just don't get it..I figured with all the attention on AJ Bradford would use his speed and have a great season. Barring an unforseen draft choice or free agent pick up, the WR unit next year will be AJ, Gaffney, Armstrong, Starling. Bradford's cap money will be better utilized elsewhere, like resigning Payne.

yesterday at the game, my friend said, "bless your heart, Corey" in a very sarcastic tone. it was quite humorous in the midst of an otherwise very un-funny day at the stadium.

    From Likely to Least Likely

    Payne
    Brown
    Bradford
    Pitts

Frankly I think Pitts should be backup LT and we find a couple of good Guards in FA or the draft, but I think Payne will be gone.

Seth is out of here as he's injured and he and walker aren't creating enough pressure...We need a good OL, a descent pass rusher and a safety..

    Other than that we're good...

Payne's job isn't to create pressure on the QB but moreso to tie up blockers so the LB's can get pressure. That's the idea behind the 3-4. The Texans reallllllyyy missed Peak against the Browns. He's probably the only guy we have who can line up on the edge and get consistent pressure on the QB, draw holds, and false starts. Payne will be resigned, especially since he'll come as a bargian due to his injuries.

    Bad news for Seth Payne.

He tore his hamstring in Sunday's game and will gave to have surgery.

I don't think the Texans can wait on him again to get healthy.
