I know this is a bit early for this, but w/ the Henson kid soon to be traded (hopefully), we might end up w/ 2 first-round picks!

It would be nice to trade Henson for the 4th overall pick from the Giants. Who do you guys have in mind?

I don't think we'll get a first round pick for Henson, maybe a 2nd.... He was a 6th round pick, so just because it's a thin QB draft I don't think he'll gain 5 rounds worth especially since he's been playing baseball instead of football. Then again, what do I know I'm just talking out of my ass here.

I don't think there's any way we get the #4 pick for Henson. I think are best hopes for a first round pick are Miami at #20 and Green Bay at 25.

It seems like we could parlay Henson and our first round pick for a top 4 pick.

well, he was a 6th round pick because he made it abundantly clear prior to last year's draft that he was not going to ever play football; at least, not in the next 12 months. it had nothing to do with talent.

as a junior, he had first round potential, possibly even first overall potential. i will be slap my ass, judy happy if they get a 1st rounder out of this; a second rounder with possibly another, conditional pick thrown in would be great, too.

no way the giants give up the 4th pick and even if they were to do so, i'm not sure henson would want to go back to NY. that would be tough.

I'd do that to get Sean Taylor. The guy is a monster.

I really doubt we'd get that high a pick. That draft is a joke too, all big school players. It never works out like that.

When did the Texans get the 4th round pick?

Patriots aren't the type of team to trade up. although they do need a rb.

I hope they do whatever it takes to get Sean Taylor.

Franchise Safty....Whenever ya saw Matt Stevens miss a tackle last year, Sean Taylor will be there making it.

I hope we don't get Sean Taylor. The guy just isn't that good from what I've seen. And I am a big proponent of not wasting first round picks on safeties. I wouldn't have even taken Roy Williams in the first round. If you can get a guy like Mike Doss in the second, that's as high as I go for a safety.

I hope we get... Chris Gamble or Vince Wilfork.

Greg Jones will be the best player to come out of this draft.

As for the Niners, if they got Chris Gamble I'd be dancing in the streets. If not, Roy Williams could slip maybe, Clayton maybe. Ken "The Future" Dorsey needs some targets to throw to if TO leaves.

I have to disagree with the above post. I've heard many a trusted sports pundit comment that Sean Taylor is the best defensive player in this draft. Our secondary would INSTANTLY improve. BTW, our run defense isn't that great right? He'll help in that department too. Wilfolk would be a great consolation prize.

p.s. Roy Williams was a pro bowler last year and as a rookie was a GREAT pass rusher. Dude is worth a 1st rounder.

Roy Williams and Sean Taylor are unquestionably 1st round material.

Regarding the mock draft...no way I trade our 10th pick and our 2nd round pick (Pick 41) to move up to #4 to take Taylor. As much as I think Taylor is a stud, losing a second round pick is not worth it. That mock is garbage.

Henson to Giants? Back to Noo Yawrq City? That would be fun.

I'm 'betting' on Green Bay, and a Favre tutorial. A #2 and a #3 sound about right.

But if Henson grows into more than Carr, let's all remember the realities of today, including the draft picks and time invested in #8.

So, let me get this straight: Polished defender Roy Williams, a recipient of the Thorpe award for the best defensive back in the country, is NOT first round material, yet raw talent Chris Gamble is? Dude, I'm so glad you're not the Texans GM. If Sean Taylor is there with our pick (and unfortunately, he won't be), he'll be a Texan. No doubt about it.

BTW, I like Greg Jones, but I think Kevin Jones is going to be a better back in the NFL.

I'd be willing to trade our 1st rounder and 2nd rounder to move up in the draft, but ONLY if we get another 1st rounder for Henson (and this year, too).

He isn't that good? Man what Miami team have you been watching?? Taylor can run a 4.4, hit like a linebacker and cover like a corner. The guy just makes plays and the Texans only play makers are on the offensive side of the ball. Just picture Ed Reed and Charles Woodson mixed in one.

I have followed Miami Hurricane football for over 20 years and the only defensive players better than Sean Taylor that came out of that school are:

    Ray Lewis
    Warren Sapp

You'll have to forgive Nomar and his post on Sean; after all, he is a Creed fan. :D

    manny,

I'm not disagreeing with you because honestly I didn't see Miami play that much, but there are some pretty damn good defensive players who have come out of that program in the last 20 years. Are you sure you think he's that good. Russell Maryland and Cortez Kennedy come to mind immedately.

    pgabriel,

Honestly yes and I will tell you why. You are right that Cortez and Russell were hosses but Sean Taylor is a tremendous physical specimen (which Cortez was as well but Maryland was just somewhat wide). The guy is like 6'3", 225 lbs, hits like a freight truck, runs like a 4.5 40 and led the nation in interceptions with 10 (I think or it might have been 11).

You just don't find many college free safeties that have that type of size, can run, can hit like he can, and make plays.

He could be a colossal bust but he is as gifted athletically as Andre Johnson - both of those dudes are freaks of nature.
