    we fix the DFENSE!!

Take a look at all the teams in the Playoff. They are all STRONG TOUGH MINDED DFENSE TEAMS Carolina/Pitts looks the toughest and have a shot at a SUPERBOWL MATCH.

I dont think David Carr is good but look at the teams that's left, most of the QB are in a good "system" to win. David Carr can be a Jake Delhomme, Jake Plummer, Big Ben, Hasselbeck. If we're thinking to much about what Reggie Bush can do or VY can do on offense.... we'll just turn into the ST. LOUIS RAMS/KC Chiefs if we dont get a WELL BALANCE DFENSE too.

Our Dfense rite now isn't even INTIMIDATING at all.

Troy Polamalu has to be my Dfense Player of the year that guy seems to be everywhere.

I'd like to see the OL fixed first, as that's been a dire need for, oh, YEARS now.

I think the defense will be adequate with a change to the 4-3 and some better coaching. (But yes, we could definitely use some playmakers on that side of the ball.)

I think you're both right. The Pitt/Indy game was won in the trenches..nothin else. Pitt dominated both sides of the line, and that's why they won. Indy couldn't establish much of a run except for a short spurt, and they couldn't deal with Pitt's pressure on the QB except when they let up for that short spurt at the end. Indy also couldn't get to Big Ben much..and when they could, he could move. And obviously Pitt was running it like crazy, esp later.

So I say hit both lines hard. And a 4-3 please. I think VY or Bush could help us...but not without help on the lines especially.

Also, Polamalu has been good...but he's also disappeared for quarters and games. And he goes for it all on a lot of plays, so on the few occasions he misses, it turns into a huge play (see: Dallas Clark). He's kinda like Jevon Kearse in a lot of ways--goes after guys with some insane athleticism and speed and makes some incredible plays that make you look twice...but is inconsistent sometimes still, disappears sometimes, and won't consistently make the easy play.

Woah now, the KC Chiefs would be a huge jump for the Texans.

But on topic, I wouldn't be too upset if OL, TE, and defense were the only positions the Texans went with after after the first pick.

Next year the top Texans pick should definately be a defensive stud.

While I would not be adverse to trading down to get Oline and Dline help. Alot of our problems could be addressed through better coaching. In Sunday's paper McClain said that Kubiak was looking at the Broncos Line coach as OC and Oline coach, and Marinelli as DC (Tampa's Dline coach). Switching to a 4-3 might help our D quite a bit as our players seem to fit that scheme better. SD turned their team around be hiring a stud Oline coach and adding a few mid level FAs on D. I can see us doing the same thing.

I agree completely. New coaching + OLine + Better Defense will help this team much more than Young or Bush ever could.

Wasn't Pendry brought in to fix the o-line
    he didn't. . . palmer got run . . he got palmer's job
and still didn't fix. . . so he got run along with Dom

Our offensive line was bad last year
but this year it was ridiculous

Maybe we can take an offensive line or a better defense with the first pick instead of Bush?

Pendry wasn't an O-line coach. He was an OC with Capers in Car. I think that was part of the problem with the O-line and with Capers. I think the guys SD hired was Houston Hawk or Hauk, but he is supposed to be one of the best in the league and their O-line turned around from on the the worst to one of the better units without changes to the players.

^Pendry waas the O-Line coach before he got promoted to offensive coordinator.

This team just needs an identity first. Lets establish that offense and then go for the D. I think a 4-3 switch could really help, most defensive players were claiming that a 4-3 would really help them. There is space in the draft for us to pick up a CB and possibly a LB. I think the texans are playoff bound next year.

I know Pendry was the O-line coach here, but I think this was his first stint as an O-line coach. If he was an O-line coach previous to his stop here, you never heard his name mentioned as a top guy in the league, such as Bugel, Hauck, Gibbs etc....

I wouldn't be opposed to that, I trust the Texans to know what to do with the pick more than me (assuming the new coach is making the decision and not Casserly). Regardless of what they do with the number one pick they have to improve the offensive line and defense if the team is going to improve drastically.

Offensive Line, in desperate need of repair. If the Texans could outscore some teams, the defense would improve. This season they were overworked. Too many three and outs.

How are you going to get both? I can see how you get Hawk, but I have seen most mock drafts listing Justice as a first round prospect. The only team with 2 first rounders is Den, and they draft at 16 and somewhere in the late 20's early 30's - which means no Hawk.

this team needs a new EVERYTHING. the defense was awful, the offense was awful, the o line is the worst i've ever seen in professional football. the texans need A LOT not just defense, not just VY or reggie. that's why i believe if they can get two first rounders for the #1 overall pick or a high first rounder and good player of need, you take the trade. this draft looks to be very talented and very deep. take as many picks on the first day as possible.

Sometimes you don't need to overhaul the whole team. Hopefully, the new coaching staff can pinpoint our biggest weakness and accommodate with the draft and free agency.

We need to drafts Dfense players like Pitts

year in year out the seem to get the same solid Dfense guys

I would never see Babin/Travis Johnson/PhilipB be picked up by them

This is probably something we can all agree with. :)

I know our cap situation was pretty bad last season, but man did Casserly strip our defense. Buchannon looked like a HUGE mistake last season, couldn't cover, couldn't tackle, but can run his mouth like no other. Babin showed a little bit of promise at the end of the season, but what a waste of a pick. The verdict is still out of TJohnson, it's hard to guage the performance of a rookie defensive tackle in my opinion, but passing on DJohnson was a joke. More tackles than Polk this season, and more tackles than Orr and Peek COMBINED.

Anyone know what the deal with Wong is? Is he expected to make a complete recovery by next season?

In fairness to Babin he played most of this season with a torn labrum. Anything that would inhibit the use of your shoulder would obviously negatively impact the play of a pass rusher.
