I'd rather the city spend money on cleaning up the lead issues in water, more drainage for flooding, reinforcing power lines around neighborhoods, fixing our severe manning issues in trash pickup, more police, more social service workers, and stuff like that.
How about they can go f**k themselves. If they need a new stadium fine, they can pay for it. Even if they threaten to move (which would be the emptiest threat imaginable) I wouldn't care. This franchise hasn't done anything to make me care enough about them leaving.
That's why they're trying to win a Super Bowl, not for the threat of leaving but to garner public support and I'm pretty sure they'll go the private funding route
NRG is definitely started to look outdated. Daikin Park (barf) was finished around the same time but they have been good at keeping it updated and renovated, it still has a fresh look and it has all of the technology of newer ballparks, plus the entertainment district is on its way. With zero regard to cost or funding, in my pretend world I would 1) tear down the Dome; 2) build new stadium over Dome footprint; 3) tear down NRG. You can do this over a period of years and have basically no disruption of current parking or traffic while it is being built.
I 100% agree with the sentiment that they can go **** themselves Billionaire team owners can pay for their own ******* stadiums. I would not give a **** if they threatened leaving over this or even did leave. There are 1000 other priorities that taxpayer money should be spent on.
It is the county, not the city. It is not the Texans alone, it is also the Rodeo. How soon we forget the Oilers’ leaving. The reason this being done behind the scenes is because of the Oilers.
