Found this on rotoworld. ESPN's Chris Mortensen says the Texans are among the teams that will show interest in LaDainian Tomlinson after the veteran is cut. The Texans are expected to make an early-down running back a priority this offseason, but we doubt Tomlinson would be their answer. He can no longer get four yards consistently on first down. Mortensen also said that Drew Brees could lobby for his former teammate to join him in New Orleans, somewhere he could simply be a short-yardage kind of back.
If Slaton's situation is as bad as it sounds, I think we will give him a look. Bob McNair may pull the trigger simply for the "splash" factor.
I guess he could fill Chris Brown's role - LT was able to find the end zone with ease last season from a yard or two out, but he's not an every down back anymore.
As long as they don't pay him any real money at all. I'm talking about the veteran minimum with lots of incentives based on performance. If they do a Ahman Green type signing with this guy I'll lose all hope in Texans management.
LaDainian Tomlinson is washed up more than when Ahman Green signed with the Texans in 2007. Tomlinson averaged less than 4.0 ypc the last 2 years and he still thinks he is a starting running back in this league. He is a good guy but stay the hell away from running backs over 30 years old.

he really wasn't.. Saw way too many 3 and out and 4 and out from the 1 or 2 yard line this year out of lt happened to sproles also a couple of times so maybe you could argue o line. But sproles issmall and lt is a td monster.. It was sad to see no thanks unless you get him super cheap
I'm going on his 12 tds last year - just thinking what role he could fulfill with the Texans, but I'm still not interested in his services at all.
aiufinewqiodju82b3ijwopsa,ioq03 god this crap always makes me laugh SO hard. will i ever get tired of the "vader no"? my guess is...
Go for it; he has something to prove. You have to remember, he may be old but he can still catch out of the backfield, and that's an upgrade over Wifebeater Chris Brown. If you can get LT at a min, I say go for it.
Nothing wrong with band aid players if they are signed cheap and contribute, but I'm a little leery of free agents because we've had a lot that didn't pan out.
He can't be worse than Chris Brown, and he might come cheaper than what we signed Brown for. As long as we're not guaranteeing him a starting job or a set number of carries, I'm fine with it. This should be totally different from the Ahman Green situation- Ahman was supposed to be the starter and carry the load. LT obviously can't do that.
How many times did he fumble at the goal line with the game on the line? How many times did he get stuffed on consecutive carries to pick up one yard? How many interceptions did he throw at the goal line? I'm not trying to validate LT and say he's worth a lot. He's not...he's worth about the minimum, maybe a little more. I'm just trying to say that Chris Brown is not an NFL running back.
Don't forget that LT would have never thrown that interception in Jacksonville. Anybody is better than Chris Brown, Chris Brown lost games for us.
