He was on IR for four weeks. This was the week he was supposed to return but he’s not even practicing. He’s basically been in street cloths since July. Maybe it’s like the Kyle Tucker situation. Bad but not bad enough to hang it up all year and hoping he comes back towards the end of the season.
8. Houston Texans (3-1) Week 4 ranking: 8 Biggest issue on defense: Safeties in coverage Houston's safeties are getting picked on by opposing offenses. The Texans run Cover 4 on 34% of first and second downs. So, teams run play-action to make the safeties cover vertical routes, which is part of why the Texans have allowed the second-most yards off play-action on early downs (337). Also, foes are putting their better wide receivers in the slot to match them up against those safeties. That group has given up four touchdowns in coverage, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. -- DJ Bien-Aime
Simmons or Xavier McKinney over PED Autry and Jimmy ‘Demeco’s Guy’ Ward would’ve been better FA money spent.
The defensive line just isn't getting enough pressure. I don't care what the stats say. They have to send 6 to get any disruption at all and even then they get blocked up usually rather easily. On defense, this is the area that has to improve. Have to get quicker pressure when sending 4 and need a real nickel corner.
A good DT?? I've been saying this for a while. Demeco had Armstead in Frisco, why the settled, no pond intended, for Settles, Foli and Autry I don't know. If they don't make a move by the Trade Deadline, then they're just playing for a Rnd 2 exit again
CJ needs to shoulder some of the blame on breakdowns and not getting rid of the ball. Overall line metrics seem to indicate a top 15 type pass blocking group.
Steve Smith and James Palmer, who I didn’t know worked here for some years before going national, made some calls and spoke to some folks in the organization. Starts at the 38:33 mark. Good stuff. Choice bits -Team is learning to deal with expectations -Bobby is letting CJ make calls at the line this year. Bobby and CJ trust each other very much. - A lot of mouths to feed and it’s gonna take time figuring it all out. Steve thinks this may be a problem if it persists later into season brings up Bears as an example. I’m digging that CJ is making calls on offense at times and that Bobby trusts him. This is next level QB play on the road to HoF career.
