http://blogs.chron.com/fanblogtexans/2008/02/2008_free_agent_tracking_chart_1.html According to the FanBlogger, the Texans are hot on the tail of Michael Turner and Green Bay RB Ryan Grant (trade) as well as Tatum Bell, Lamont Jordan. I'm not sure about Turner....to have 2 expensive FA RBs is a bit much.....but there's also been some talk (crazy if you ask me) about Texans sending 1st rd pick to ATL for Deangelo Hall....but I think that is a bunch of smoky talk.....
Grant highlights from playoffs... <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vJZD3ZIx6u0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vJZD3ZIx6u0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Fan Blogger is High....The Packers are not going to trade Ryan Grant, and the Texans are not going to pay for Michael Turner.
I agree, and we aren't giving a first rounder for Hall. Maybe our 3rd.....if we can squeeze Minny for their second.
Michael Turner is way overrated. Jonathan Wells would have looked good running behind that San Diego O-Line
You are insane ... I've watched every game of Turner's for the last several years and it is not because of the O-Line. In games where LT was getting shut down because the O-Line was playing terrible, Turner came in and played extremely well. Everyone here in SD is very upset to see him go. I for one would be extremely happy if he ended up in Houston.
Turner has a rare combination of size and speed and I would love to have him on the Texans. That being said, with this deep draft I wouldn't want to give him a lot of money. If we can get him for around what we paid Ahman Green or what Chester Taylor got a few years ago, I would be all for bringing him aboard.
So a starting CB is worth a 3rd round pick, but a backup QB is worth a 2nd? This is becoming like the Rockets trade scenarios.
Well, if you have watched every Chargers game for several years then you have certainly seen more of him than I have. He is a hard downhill runner and is a bruiser, but I don't see him (in the games I have watched him play) being an elite RB. One other factor might be that when LT is playing, the entire defense is focused on him, as opposed to when Turner is out there. I mean, even Spoles lookes like a pro-bowler when he goes out there. I don't think Turner is a bad player, I just don't believe all the hype. Like I said, you have seen him play more than I have, so I could be wrong. I just don't see him being worth starting RB $.
This sounds like a very Texan-esque move. Overpay for an overrated back and dump more draft picks in the process. Has the Texans management seen the amount of talent at RB available in the draft? r****ds.
