Offense is bad and the defense is not great either.... Excuse #1 Carr is a rookie Excuse #2 This is a new team, Unfamiliar with each other.... Well ok I agree...But Graham is a veteran....Worthless Knowing Houston Fans we like winners...
Are you talking about this game? I've been impressed tonight. The first team really moved the ball up and down the field. Carr looks very poised for a rookie QB... and I'm guessing Wells might be starting come opening day. He's looked very nice. We do have a problem in putting it in the end zone, but the solution to that will come with time. The important thing is that our timing seems to be improving and we're moving the ball. The second half hasn't been as nice, but I'm not too concerned with that. These are our backups anyway. The Chiefs have a very good offense, and our first team stayed right with them in total yardage. The problem on the scoreboard comes from penalties and a lack of execution in the red zone, but those are mental mistakes more than a lack of talent. The defense doesn't seem to be clicking, but our offense (even with so many O-line starters hurt) looks better than any expansion team I can remember. I'm impressed.
Actually, the first team offense and defense did well tonight. In fact, last week against the Saints they did well too. I am proud of the way this team has played. If this is reality, Im all for it.
Hell I'm a Texans fan, a NFL fan, and a Texans season ticket holder. What reality did you just introduce me to with your stellar post? So what if we only win 3-5 games....WE HAVE FOOTBALL AGAIN. As Stan Lee says, Nuff Said.
I thought the defense played VERY well tonight. The Chiefs started many drives with excellent field position and they only got one TD. It is tough to contain that offense especially Priest Holmes...but they did as well as anybody really can. The offense is a problem, but most of it has to do with having no running game. James Allen is obviously not the answer. Wells fits this team much better right now. Putting him in there will allow the run to open up the pass. The other real problem, is dropped passes. There were many passes that Carr threw that hit the receivers in the hands only to be dropped. Had this not been the case the Texans would be celebrating a win tonight. Hopefully the dropsies can be fixed in practice. All around penalties were a problem. I promise you that this will be a major focus at practice this week. Let's see how this part of the gme develops next week. I think we'll be a decent team...with our losses being relatively close.
We don't know how things would have turned out had the first teamers stayed in, but lets imagine this was not a preseason game. Texans fans already know what to expect from an expansion team. This season is not going to be pretty. And those who want an instant winner are better off rooting for another team. I don't want us to win 6-8 games if it means losing a top 3 draft choice or extra draft picks. There will be many more games like tonight's game. The offense is going to look bad. The defense is going to look bad. The special teams is going to look bad. But guess what, all that matters is we have the NFL back! Be patient.
I'm a Falcons fan and we are 2-0 this pre-season. That must mean we are going undefeated right? It's freaking pre-season MovieManiac. These games are just organized scrimmages so coaches can decide what guys stay on for third string/special teams duty and which get cut. It must be awesome for you guys to be experiencing the thrill off an upcoming season at all, after what that ass Bed Adams did to you, so just be happy. You have a great owner, a first class stadium and a team with no bagage that you can call your own.
Kent Grahm is terrible. Dude was out there against Kc's #2 defense and looked like a high school quarterback. Carr is just 22 and runs circles around this clown.
I'll be disappointed if Graham gets cut, and the Texans don't pick up another veteran QB. We're only an injury way from being crap on offense. Graham is better than Quinn and Sankey. I'm surprised Sankey hasn't played after his poor performance against the Giants.
My guess is that they are waiting to see who ends up on the waiver wire. Casserly mentioned during last night's game, that they were going to be looking to pick up some players after the final cuts. We're pretty solid with our starters & will be competitive all year long, but as you said, we're just an injury or two away from being cellar dwellers.
our defense is stronger than you give it credit for... offense is a problem for LOTS of teams in the NFL this year...hell, offense was a problem for the last two super bowl champions!!! no one expects this team to win...there are no dashed hopes...football is back and that's good enough!!! GO TEXANS!!!
Seriously, how are passes being dropped at this level. Wells should get the nod in the next pre-season game to see what he's got. Allen is losing the job. As for the Titans, McNair looked as good as ever last week. Very poised. Even looked Montana like out there.
Just say your a cowboy fan. We know the offence and defence is not the best, but give them a break. That's why the NFL came up with the Pre-season, so you can learn from your mistakes before the real season.
I agree. Our defense has held their own. We just haven't put points on the board. IMO, the biggest reason we haven't scored much is because our running game sucks.
