Just thought I'd compile a list of stupid mistakes the Texans have made over the last 4 drafts. Basically, if they left it on "autopick" like on yahoo, Houston would have a very formidable roster today. As it stands most of these busts are either non-contributors, bad players, or no longer on the team.

    2002:
Round 1, pick 1: David Carr, QB
Round 2, pick 1: Jabar Gaffney, WR
Round 2, pick 18: Chester Pitts, OT

    2003:
Round 2, pick 1, traded for supplemental draft rights for Tony Hollings, RB
Round 2, pick 9: Ben Joppru, TE
Round 3, pick 24: Dave Ragone, QB

    2004:
    Round 1, pick 27: Jason Babin, DE/LB
Round 2, pick x: traded for Jason Babin
Round 3, pick x: traded for Jason Babin
Round 5, pick x: traded for Jason Babin

    2005:
Round 1, pick 16: Travis Johnson, DT
Round 2, pick 13: traded for Philip Buchanon, CB

    2006:
Round 1, pick 1: Mario Williams, DE

And this is why the Texans are now the laughingstock of the NFL. They have done nothing more than piss away one after another high draft pick, and are left playing a bunch of marginal NFL players like Faggins, CC Brown, Glenn Earl, Chester Pitts, and Fred Weary. Absolutely pathetic.

Why are you knocking Pitts? The guy's been very solid for us.

I know exactly how you feel. Looking at that is depressing. As we stand now we have so many holes its hard to say which move would be the right one. Maybe there's more than one right move, its hard to say.

Trust me, the Texans are not the laughingstock of the league.

That would be the Raiders or the Lions.

Most people dont even care about the Texans.

I understand the frustration but most of those crappy ass picks were made by the previous regime - thank God they are gone. The current shows much better talent evaluation abilities.

1st off Cheaster Pitts was not a bad selection actually its probaly one of thier best picks

2nd Travis Johnson pick was bad because they did not draft the guy that ended up as Rams RT which both tackles prevent Carr from even having a chance or any other QB to have a chance so I agree with you on that one.

3rd Trading up for Babin was dumb thats all you can say on that especially when they could have picked him with the second round pick they traded so I agree on that one too

4th On the Buchanon was dumb but u left out that they also traded a 3rd round pick for him too

5th Bennie Joppru how many games did he play O

6th Did I mention this team needed a Offensive tackle since its existed and they took Williams over Ferguerson the Brick house that just plain dumb

Messege to Texans Organizations fix holes b4 fixing cracks

PS DID I MENTION JAKE PLUMMER SUCKS

    Yeah, thanks for that update...

Of course, what he fails to mention is that the people responsible for all those draft picks have all been canned.

Maybe I should start a thread to tell everyone that Texas A&M has beaten Texas in football and basketball this year. Or how Austin is a DUMP and isn't cool anymore.

Let it go. It happened. It's done. There's a new coach and GM in town.

Once Carr is gone, this team will experience a new life.

Did you see Mario manhandle Ferguson the entire game when the Texans played the Jets? I wanted Ferguson (and AJ Hawk), but Mario made a believer out of me that game.

Awesome! Man, that's just funny! :D

I don't think the thread is inappropriate at all. No one disagrees that the Texans' draft history is a debacle. Seeing a summary of it was interesting in a rubber-necking on I-45 kind of way.

Regarding the 06 pick, however, I think that even though we understand that keeping Carr over the other three QBs was a dreadful mistake, we'll ultimately be very pleased with Mario's career. Too bad the two can't be separated.

The Tony Hollings pick was not the first pick of the second round either. It was the Raiders' second round pick and they were coming off a Super Bowl season. I'm not saying it was a good pick by any means, but you don't need to make things up to bash the Texans.

Let me ask you this Baqui. Are you even a Texans' fan? We all know you hate pretty much all things Houston and take every chance given to bash the city. It would surprise me greatly to learn that you were even a fan.

If you wanna play that game, you can argue that every single team makes 5 or 6 mistakes every draft.

Fact of the matter is that Pitts has been one of our best selections.
