In moving to No. 10, the Broncos reportedly would be targeting linebacker Patrick Willis, defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, and defensive end Adam Carriker. The primary target could be Willis -- and landing a spot in front of the 49ers will help to ensure that they get him. It's unclear what the Broncos will be given up to climb eleven spots. Under the trade chart, the move is worth 500 points. Denver's second-round pick (No. 56 overall) is worth 340 points. The Broncos' third-round pick (No. 86 overall) is worth 160 points. And that's a total of 500 points. The Texans don't have a second-round pick, due to the Matt Schaub trade. They hold the ninth pick (No. 73 overall) in round three. ----------------------------------- #10 for #21, #56, and #86 - Hell, I would go for it. Can still pick up a good CB, S, or OL at #21, CB, S, or WR at #56, and defense at #86.
everybody seems to think moving down is the right choice. i still find it hard to get past that basketball midset where a deal like this obviously wouldn't make sense. how often are these things done on actually draft day? I guess I'd be for this deal because you still get a good first round draft choice and pick up 2 extra picks. caveat being, I think you should wait until it is your spot in the draft to make the deal...maybe somebody you really want but don't think you can get slips...
Kiper's current mock has Staley going to the Giants @ 20. Other players in that area: Ginn@19; Aaron Ross@25; Reggie Nelson@26
I hope this deal goes down....if Denver wants it bad enough, maybe we can take their earlier 3rd round pick (70) instead of their later one (86). 1. CB (Aaron Ross) or S (Brandon Merriweather) 2. S (Eric Weddle) or CB (Eric Wright) 3. DE ( Victor Abiamiri) 3. WR (Jason Hill) that would be my ideal day one if this goes down.
do it take nelson if he's available...if he's not, take your highest rated receiver. the General reports that he's highly doubtful the Texans will use a first round pick on an OT.
Not too bad. 1. Ryan Kalil C USC 2. Eric Weddle S Utah 3. Jason Hill WR Washington State 3. Quinn Pitcock DT Ohio State 4. Jonathan Wade CB Tennessee 5. Daniel Sepulveda P Baylor 6. Mkristo Bruce DE Washington State
This would be awesome, especially if Landry isn't on the board. One of Reggie Nelson/Joe Staley/Anthony Gonzalez should be available. I think Rufus Alexander will be available in the 3rd round, and will be great where the Texans pick. Then they'll be able to use the rest of the picks on secondary, long-shot OTs, block eating DTs, and receiver depth.
Do it. I want that 2nd round pick back. If we don't trade down, we'll pick at #10 and then won't pick again until the 3rd round. That's not enough picks for a team with so many holes to fill.
Good trade for both teams if this happens. Willis is a stud and they just cut Wilson. Texans have many holes and need extra picks. 1st=Joe Staley 2nd=Eric Weddle 3rd=Craig Davis/Aundrae Allison 3rd=Daymeion Hughes/Fred Bennett
I would make a game time decision when the Texans are on the clock. If they have a stud available to pick (Landry, AP, Okoye) then I would say go for the pick. If everyone falls status quo, I would draft for the Broncos and then take their 2nd and 3rd rounder. Either way Im ok with the decision - cant go wrong. Obviously the more picks the better, and a 1st rounder at the 21st can still come in and start.
Texans remain up in air That could just be posturing. Who knows? It would be a good deal if they can get the 2nd and another 3rd. This is a deep draft where plenty of very good players...immediate impact type...will be available towards the end of the first round. I'd love to have Aaron Ross. He would start immediatly opposite Dunta and would give us a good punt returner.
I like the idea of moving down for extra picks, but I also think this team is desperate for stud players. If there is a stud available at 10, I'd rather have a stud then trade down for more players who are going to fall between "better than average and good." This team needs players that are better than the ones they line up against.
No thanks. I'm a UT alum and I still don't want him. Yes, he has a knack for making the big play, but he also got consistently burned throughout his UT career.
haven't they talked about moving him to safety? solid free safety maybe? less prone to getting beat if his responsibility is in front of him?
If a trade like this were on the table the Texans would be completely stupid to not take it. This team has way more needs than the #10 pick can provide. There will be a lot of quality players left at #21 and you get a 2nd and 3rd to help fill some needs at many positions.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm DENVER-HOUSTON TRADE A STEPPING STONE FOR BRONCOS? A reader has helped us connect the dots regarding the reported trade talks between the Broncos and Texans, which would allow Denver to move from No. 21 to No. 10 in the 2007 draft. Though the belief is that the Broncos are trying to get in position to draft linebacker Patrick Willis, defensive end Adam Carriker, or defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, it could be that the Broncos are planning to offer up the No. 10 overall pick to the Lions as an alternative to the offer that the Broncos reportedly have made in order to land receiver Calvin Johnson. As we've explained, the Lions' primary concern regarding the Broncos' prior offer of a one, a two, and a three in 2007 and a one in 2008 is that Detroit would then be picking too low at No. 21 to get one of the guys they want. But at No. 10 they might be able to get it done. And it's believed that the Lions want linebacker Patrick Willis or defensive end Gaines Adams. So they come out of the draft with a player they covet, they pay the guy a lot less in the No. 10 slot, and they snare some extra picks. The only problem is that, under the trade chart, the Broncos need to come up with 1,300 points through picks other than the No. 10 selection. Without a second-round pick (which would likely go to Houston as part of the move from No. 21 to No. 10), it might be hard for the Broncos to pull it off.
If the offer for #10 is #21, 2nd round, and 3rd...i think we'd be nuts not to take it, regardless of who is available at 10. The options are endless. Here is a possible scenario... Would you rather have Adrian Peterson at #10 or... Joe Staley OT with #21 Marcus McCauley CB or Eric Wright CB with #56 Aundrae Allison WR or Jason Hill WR with #86 Honestly, is this even a thought? Adding a solid OT perfect for our scheme, a CB opposite Dunta, and a WR that can play from day 1...or you can have Adrian Peterson. This is a no brainer, IMO. And add Sabby Piscitelli S with our own #73. Thats a ridiculously nice first day of the draft.
