It sucks, but if Nico is back by the Lions game, we will still have a good receiving corp. It is imperative that he stay on the field the rest of the year or we will wear Mixon out. Metchie finally showed up a bit. Wood is a decent possession receiver off the bench. OL is a much bigger concern. Our defense is absolutely elite and at some point Harris will be back (i hope).
Woods and Hutch need to step up cause its the Dalton and Tank Show with a heavy run game. Metchie stay in that little corner you were already at.
Back in preseason when we were all thinking that they would only keep one of either Metchie or Hutchison, I figured whichever it was would have plenty of opportunity to show their stuff this season because there would likely be some injuries to our receivers. But we've already had more of that than I expected and Metch and Hutch both haven't shown much. I hope that changes soon, especially if Diggs is out a while.
Hutch has shown sticky hands on some key third down situations, and he's had some nice gadget plays in the running game as well. However, I do feel like both Hutch and Metch seem like they can give you some nice moments, but overall may not be impactful enough across multiple games to make a big difference. Nico and Tank staying fully healthy for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs is going to be imperative for this team's success if they don't make a move for another WR.
Call a spade a spade. We MUST see Tank step up this week. He's clearly sophomore slumping for some reason, and a lot of that appeared to be target share. When he was hitting on all cylinders last year he was getting nearly 10 targets a game. This year he's closer to 4. Diggs ate into his share much more than he impacted Nico. With both Nico and Diggs likely missing for some period of time, the big onus has to fall to Tank. Hutchinson, Woods, and Metchie playing complimentary roles will also help and be key. But Tank needs to finally pull it together and Schultz also needs to be a factor so teams back out of the box and Mixon can still rush effectively as well.
What a blow.. Let's trade Diggs for Diontae Johnson and then just resign Diggs in the offseason if he is healthy.. LOL
I figured that was coming when they said they were still evaluating. I really liked his hustle during games. You could tell he has that extra gear to shift into.
Losing Diggs sucks big time. But the Texans still have a pretty strong group of receivers, especially after Nico returns (hopefully for the Lions game). Next man up. Tank, Hutch, Metchie, Woods, etc...time for them to elevate their games.
I don't think Metch or Hutch are ready. and Tank has struggled to even be a WR #3 this season. We need a trade.
