Every time this thread gets bumped up all I can think is "please don't be in trouble with the law again"
Gosh darn it y’all, in all the CJ and the crazy WR battle and depth, I kinda forgot about Mixon. I just don’t know how awesome this offense could be and I’m scared my hopes are beyond reach already..
Just pray for OL health. If we can a full season out of Howard, Tunsil, and Green, this offense could set records.
It will certainly be interesting to see how this team “actually” performs with the burden of great expectations, because those expectations are so high now that it wouldn’t be a stretch to call them near unobtainable when you factor in that only one team raises The Lombardi each season, and more often than not lately in the post-Brady years the person raising it is in your conference. Great to be in the conversation, but “Super Bowl or bust” May be borderline unrealistic.
I am with you. I am concerned that hype is off the charts. Football is fickle with the unexpected injuries and all. Confidence is good, but it all happens on the field.
I think Joe Mixon is the forgotten man on offense among many Texans fans. He is the key to keeping LBs and safeties honest, which will raise the downfield passing game to another level. What's so weird is the national media that I have little respect for seems to get this right.
Mixon is so good out of the backfield, and picking holes as a RB...how do you cover the RB/TE/3WR? Pierce, if he gets feets and quicks back, can be a hammer. Then you're opening up play action so, so much. One of my "I'm rooting for this guy so much this year" guys, possibly the biggest one, is Kenyon Green. He can change that whole OL if it works out.
I expect him to have a career year. The OL is absolutely mauling people. The pass pro is OK but CJ needs to learn to step forward and not roll away from pressure.
