    Texans Eliminated from Playoff Contention

The Browns win and Jags both win. Texans are done. Lets just hope to finish the year strong and have something to look forward to next season.

I'm just proud of our last two games, and that we even were mathematically eligible so late in the year. We don't put a third of a roster on IR, and we have a real shot.

Even if we lose out (man, J-ville looked tough today), it's hard to believe that we will be 7-9. That's what a lot of people predicted for this team BEFORE all the injuries.

And truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised if we won one of the next 2 games to go 8-8.

Can you imagine if we hadn't blown that Atlanta game? Or Kerry Collins didn't beat us by himself? Or if Jacoby Jones hadn't fumbled that punt against Cleveland when we probably would have tied the game had he not?

    Still a chance for 9-7 or 8-8. I think I predicted 7-9 (maybe 8-8) so I've be happy with a non-losing season.

I really hate to think about all those scenarios coming back to haunt us.

All I know is, let's win the next two, get some huge momentum, and make a real run next year!

If the Texans can win out 9-7 is a HUGE boost heading into next season -- especially with a league leading 17 players on the IR. Hell even a split and an 8-8 season is a (obviously) a major improvement.

Texans wish list for 2008 -- a legit starting RB -- the O-line -- well, Sage finds a way to keep from getting sacked (just saying).

A 9-7 or an 8-8 record is superb. It shows that the guys are interested more in winning than improving their draft positioning.

Sure by winning out the Texans wont pick until the late teens or the low twenties (pick wise). But the Texans need a year or two to get Okoye and Williams to be one of the most dominating defensive line of all times.

In the 20's the Texans may be able to find a good safety or running back. It won't be an impact guy, but obviously it should be guy that help out and may be the difference between a 9-7 team and an 11-5 team.

    Keep winning.

All 1st round picks should be impact players. Texans just have to scout better this year.

I think there is a decent chance that Robinson becomes a safety and we draft a corner.
If they were to take a safety it doesn't have to be in the first round. Those guys can be picked up a little later...2nd or 3rd

Of course we need offensive line help too.It will be interesting to see whether they approach this via the draft, free agency,or trade.Personally,I envision them getting immediate help through free agency or trade as we are set to compete next year.

But as far as the season goes....It's a shame we had all those injuries.

Without them we make the playoffs and perhaps even make it past the first round.

All in all this franchise looks to be ready to roll....with a dominant defense coming to a store near you for the next 10 years.

Well the Colts don't have a lot to play for and probably the Jags won't either....Texans might end up 9-7 after all. But I'm thinking 8-8.

Mario Williams is now second in the NFL in sacks - only .5 behind Patrick Kerney of Seattle. Mario could finish the season in the top spot.

It will definitely be fun cheering for Mario to end the season with the sack lead.

Wouldn't this just super piss off the VYofers and Bushofers! VY's numbers last year didn't warrant an OROY last year he won it because of ALL the media grand standing and some simply ridiculous fantastic finishes. Mario may very well be #1 in sacks in all of the NFL! Wow! What a bust he turned out to be, huh? Somewhere in NYC, Olbermann and Costas are taking turns trashing their offices. Can you say egg on face? :D

Mario and DeMeco are going to consistently be Defensive Player of the Year candidates....might split votes quite a bit.
That said it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Mario had 3 - 5 of those awards before he's done.
This guy actually appears to have the talent to be a MVP as an end.
He's only 22 and in addition to his otherwordly athleticism for a man his size is intensely analyzing film on how best to get it done ....intelligent and hungry.

My heart wants us to win the last two games. But my head feels that 7-9 is a significant upgrade from 9-7 from a draft standpoint. I'm very surprised at how well we've been able to get good value from our draft positions. But that doesn't mean draft position is pointless. I don't know how this draft will shake up, but going up 5-10 positions each round is got to be worth a 3rd round pick at least.

Our lack of depth obviously showed when the injuries piled up. But overall it's not a bad season. And I'm just glad that I can at least get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'd love to see the Texans win their last game, and end the season on a high note.

As long as guys by the name Tom and Peyton are still in the league the Texans can wait to get a shot.

Only in a league with no great defenses. (The best defenses are Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, and they have weaknesses.) If the Texans can build a truly great defense, they'll have a shot.

Big improvements this year.....lots to build on.

Another draft a couple of Free Agent signings and maybe compete for a playoff next year.

Not bad....and much better than anything Casserly/Capers did.
