Absolutely, Tunsil has been the best tackle in football this season and Howard has come into his own as well, both men should be receiving new contracts this offseason.
Yep draft a Center and a Center that can play OG. Cann will be back and hopefully Green will be healthy. Then the much needed depth will be there when injuries inevitably hit. Stromberg and Mauch are 2 guys I like alot. As well as the Michigan center.
OMG!!! Do you see the disparity in our o-line rankings?! Even though we rate dead last in the overall ranking our tackle grade is actually tied for SECOND BEST in the league! It's our guard and center play that is soo abysmal it's dragging our overall grade down to the bottom. Our guard and center grades are 23 and 25 respectively (tackle is 74). To put in perspective just how bad that really is you have to realize that no other team in the nfl is even in the 20's in either category other than us! At guard there are only 5 teams in the 30's, with the worst at 31 (we're 23). That means the 2nd worst guard group is roughly still 33% than our collection. If you think that's bad at center it's much worse! We're at 25 and there is only 1 other team in the league even in the 30's (wash - 37). Remove them and the next worst center grade is 49. That's almost TWICE AS GOOD a grade as we received (25 - 49). That means that our center play has been at a level of ineptitude all their own. If you remove wash from the chart we're actually TWO LEVELS of suck beyond the next worse team. My goodness that is PATHETIC!!!
These stats need to be remembered on draft days. Not saying I want Mills to continue as the QB, but I wonder how much better Mills would've looked with even avg IOL play. This gives me hope that guys like Schmitz/Beebe can be drafted in the 3rd rd and when Green gets healthy the team will be much improved on that side of the ball.
Heard on 610 this morning the Jeremy Fowler mentioned Lovie being on shaky ground and there are whispers about Caserio getting his target and hiring Jonathan Gannon. I hope Caserio gets his way and hires Gannon. And Gannon can bring Brian Johnson with him as OC who happens to be from Texas. This is the way
Good to hear in the sense that I think Lovie's time has passed and needs to go but I was hoping for a clean sweep with Caserio gone too. Plus I would prefer a fresh new offensive "wunderkind" to a defensive head coach if for no other reason than most defensive minded coaches seem to prefer a conservative offense that won't turn the ball over and put his pet (defense) under extra pressure. Not a good strategy in this age imo. I also remember Gannon had some extreme demands (we wouldn't agree to) when we interviewed him before iirc.
I hear you…and if what I remember hearing was true that “extreme demands” came from either Cal or Janice who wanted Lovie on the staff. You wouldn’t want Demeco either??
Oh, was it US (Cal/Cas) that put the demands on Gannon and not vice-versa? I must be misremembering! I remember it was about the staff/and or roster though. Good question about Demeco. That's one defensive guy I would take a chance on. Maybe it's the homer in me that wants to see local boy (former team player) come back home and lead us to glory. It might be irrational, but I think Demeco would allow a top QB to do his "thang" if we got one. One thing with Demeco though is I wonder if he's running his own defense or just continuing what Salah had previously. Also, with 49er guys to me one of the big advantages they have (along with Baby Shanny) is that they just draft so darn well! I mean for the past several years they find quality backups and starters in the lower draft rounds and udfa. They've evn been able to overcome the treasure trove of picks they gave up for Trey Lance. You can do that when you consistently "hit" on your day 2 and 3 picks. He sure won't have that here! But yes I'd hire Demeco and try to see if he'd hire an up-and-coming offensive wiz at OC. To tell you the truth I'm not even sure I know of one atm. Is there anyone left under Baby Shanny ready to go? lol
If the Texans go QB at # 1 they should get an OC for head coach. You don’t want the offensive staff leaving and setting back the development of a young qb.
Anyone rooting for the Vikings to pull this comeback off? That would officially not make the Oilers the shitstain of the greatest comeback in NFL history. It would be the ****ing shitty Colts.
