Now that the 2008 season is over, it's time to look ahead towards 2009. Here are the opponents the Texans will face next season: Home Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Patriots, Jets, 49ers, Seahawks, Raiders Away Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Bills, Dolphins, Cardinals, Rams, Bengals I'll be disappointed if we don't get at least an 11-5 record. It may take that many wins just to make the playoffs. The Pats couldn't get in this year with 11 wins. I wish we played the NFC West this year instead of next year. I have to believe most of those teams will be much improved next season. Although, the Texans did pretty well against the NFC North this season with a 3-1 record. It could possibly have been a clean sweep if Jared Allen didn't play dirty.
dude, They could go 12-4 if they beat the Colts and Titans @ home. there is no way in hell they commit 32 turnovers again next season. I'm sure that is priority numero uno on Kubiaks list.
I'd like him to secure the ball a bit more in the pocket. I can live with a 3:2 TD/INT ratio if he plays as well as he did when healthy this year (or better yet, improves on that)
A lot can change from year to year (see the Dolphins and Falcons, for example), but on the surface, that looks like about as easy a schedule as one could imagine. Eight games against the crappiest of the crappy teams out there (the other 8 being the division foes and Miami/Patriots, though I think Miami will regress significantly).
i know that in today's nfl it is difficult to determine who is going to be crappy, but we need a northwest state to build confidence for the first game. bengals for the first game, patriots for the final game would be excellent. Computers make it happen!
I'll be disappointed if we don't get at least 9 wins. I'm "expecting" 10 and hoping that 11 might be in reach. With the Colts, Pats, Jets, and Cards making up almost a third of the schedule, I think it makes it all the more paramount that we come away with a safety and corner on the first day of the draft this year. Schaub, not just Rosenfels, really needs to get his INT average below 1.0 per game. Hopefully they correct the red zone issues (accuracy, decision making) as well. Evan
I don't know how useful a measure it is, but for what it's worth, Schaub's INT average is already under 1.0/game. He threw 10 INTs in 11 games this year, and 9 in 11 games last year.
10 wins should be a given. I think the 2 wild cards come from our division next year, with the Texans being one of them.
Not sure how you get 8 against "the crappiest of the crappy" this early. Rams, Bengals, Raiders, Seahawks..yes, should be back in the cellar next year. Jags/Jags/Bills? I wouldn't count on it. 49ers are a big question mark to me.. they could find a way to turn it around and be decent So my guess would be 2 losses out of those 8 games.. so going .500 against the harder part of the schedule would result in 10 wins. I'll go ahead and hope for that.
Most of you better be prepared to be disappointed. I don't see 10+ wins out there. 8-8, and another season of what could've been. The NFL is hard to predict though.
Wow, What a great schedule. Getting Seahawks, 49ers at home makes it a much easier schedule. We need to go 7-1 at home and 4-4 on the road. 11-5 is possible. But we will still only be a wild card contender.
Home Colts- L Jaguars- W Titans- W Patriots- L Jets- W 49ers- W Seahawks- W Raiders- W Away Colts- L Jaguars- L Titans- W Bills- L Dolphins- W Cardinals- W Rams- W Bengals- L 10-6
Things we need to work on: Decision-making There were games that we lost this season because of poor decisions by the coaches, and poor decisions by the QBs. Learn when to be aggressive and when to just protect the ball! Turnovers Carelessness and impatience led to far too many turnovers. Ya can't expect to win games with so many turnovers. RED-ZONE EFFICIENCY!!! We're one of the best NFL teams at moving the ball down field, and one of the worst at getting it into the end zone. I said this before the season started. This is our weakest area!
49ers are crap to me. That whole division is a disaster. The best team (by far) is the Cardinals - and they went 6-0 against their division and 3-7 against the rest of the NFL. The division as a whole went 10-30 against the rest of the NFL, and if any of those teams were in any other division, their record would be 3-13 or thereabouts, in my opinion. So I included them and I included the Cardinals for the same reason. I think they win 4 or 5 games, at best, in any other division. That's 6 of the teams. Then I probably unfairly included the Jets and Bills, but both of them ended their seasons in a tailspin, and frankly, I just don't see much talent on either team.
i'm a little confused by the 'slaton is careless' sentiment. he fumbled twice and lost one. of the top 25 leading rushers in the NFL this year, only 2 had 0 fumbles, and only 1 of those ran for more yards than slaton.
