I think it's fair to say Terrence Jones is leading the Rockets' rookie pack right now and is a safe bet to be part of the rotation, at least to start the year.

Even though he "only" had 9 points, 5 boards and 2 blocks last night (10/17/2012 vs. Memphis Grizzlies), his highlights were really impressive and show his upside as a big man in the league. I think that's where he has a chance to be a more unique player ... a four with legit size (he's got an NBA-ready body right now) who can block shots and defend, but has the skillset that makes you think at times that he's a wing (likes to get the board and run the break, will pull up from deep, square up his man and crossover to attack the basket).

NBA future is definitely as a four and with the Rockets' weakness at the pivot, I could see him getting spot minutes as a five in certain lineup combinations.

I do think his weakness is shot selection, and this is where he really is going to have to grow up in the league. I'd hate to see him go the Al Harrington route where he basically becomes a chucker. He's prone to some bad shots and falls in love with his outside jumper at times.

But boy, watch these highlights... manchild, indeed. Impressive dunk and liked both blocks as well. Calvin Murphy had a few comments to boot (at the end of the video). Lot to learn, but I really like the upside on Jones.

i'll never understand how he slid so far in last year's draft. If he had come out one year earlier he would have been a top 5 pick.

I still think his upside is somewhat limited, but if he ends up becoming Thaddeus Young with better D & rebounding, that's certainly not too shabby, especially when you consider where he was picked.

I like his play a lot. He needs to improve a bit with his rebounding and defense, but he's already a better rebounder than Patrick and I think he's got the potential to improve on both counts.

And what is it exactly about Jones do you feel will limit his upside?

His upside is a left handed Kevin Durant. How exactly is that limited?

Looking like Carl Landry in the paint, Lamar Odom on the perimeter

Now THIS is the ClutchFans I'm familiar with.

I'm a fan of TJones. I didn't know how to react when we picked him, because I just knew there was no way we drafted another tweener forward, but at the same time I'd been wanting the Rockets to get him for 2 years.

Having a 4 who can handle the ball, attack the basket, spot up, rebound and block shots would be very nice. If he ever added a post-up game and worked on his one-on-one defense, he would be a heck of a player.

His ceiling will likely be quasi all-star like Jsmith, Odom (the one with the lakers), and Gay are. Not bad for an 18th pick, but we need that potential franchise player.

I was also skeptical, more diasappointed really when we picked TJones. It didnt make any sense at the time. But oh man, he's proving a lot of doubters wrong. He's probably the most well rounded of the rooks that we have.

Jones made NBA top 10 plays! Love this kid. I love all the rooks but I think him & Royce are definitely my favourite.

I have to say I thought he was a little smaller his freshman year and that he was destined to be an NBA SF. He has been a pleasant surprise to me as a PF especially in his strength.

I think DMo and White are going to have to work hard to get minutes from him. They are lucky the Rockets plan to run a lot and play a lot of small ball.

I hope the question becomes, "How do you think true bigs will match up with him?"

TJ has certainly shown me more than I ever expected, but of course it's early days. Very early days. We've all been fooled before.

I thought, when he was selected, he was a pick for a specific team to be traded to; just perhaps this Morley guy knew something some of us didn't?

It's a good problem to have, but one that makes me as curious as the rest of you: each of our young 4's could blossom to one level or another, and each has this or that skillset. How will all this shake out?

Tjones. I'm liking the Tjones pick more and more. This kid could be a stud in the NBA: scores, handles, boards, blocks....

D-Mo. Getting better, can score, board; could be the 4/5 we need but still needs to gain weight, and not really a shot-blocker.

Royce. Jury's out, of course. Runs the floor and dishes. Probably can develop into solid 2nd unit handle-the-ball guy. But how many non-home games will he play? San Antonio and Dallas, sure. Otherwise....?

Ppat. Shaking off the rust, looking good lately. No one's idea of a top-caliber starting 4, but can give you good minutes and can MAYBE slide to the 5 to get slapped around for a few mpg.

Obvious idea is to let these guys develop, see who you want to keep or trade, depending on which NBA player shakes loose COUGH for another trade that doesn't happen COUGH.

This is why you take the best player available.
