I figured they would get more than a 2nd round pick. I guess they cant complain though, its better than losing him outright for nothing. They should give T.O.'s agent a nice bottle of wine and a sharpie.
Wow ... no link that I see but it is on the bottom right corner on ESPNEWS Hot List. Well worth it for the Ravens to get an elite WR. I don't know how much the Ravens will through ... might be another Keyshawn & Jets situation.
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7142347 Marcus Robinson had a couple of great games for the Ravens last year. If Robinson is healthy along with Owens and Jamal Lewis running and their consistent D, Ravens will easily win that division.
Ravens | Owens Landed in Trade with 49ers - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 4 Mar 2004 12:13:51 -0800 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Baltimore Ravens have traded their second-round pick (No. 51 overall) to the San Francisco 49ers for WR Terrell Owens. I initially heard it on Dan Patrick, who mentioned it while interviewing Clinton Portis...
I Heard a Report Philly was all ready to nab him unless the Ravens came up with a better offer, which obviously was the case. Good move, but can Boller get him the ball?
Well, Boller's arm is 10 times better than Garcia's but I'm not sure about his decision making. Boller is the key because Baltimore suddenly could have a scary offense: Jamal Lewis (if he's acquitted), Todd Heap, Marcus Robinson, and TO. Plus, as if they needed it, Baltimore now has more attitude.
He has a great arm but wasn't his college completion percentage under 50%? Not like Cal was a national powerhouse, but normally you'd like to see a little more accuracy in a 1st round QB. I agree about the offense, Heap is probably the best receiving TE in the league, and Lewis is great when he's healthy, Throw in a Defense with Terrell Suggs, The best LB in the NFL and Ed Reed and the Ravens are back in contention.
And why couldn't they get a first rounder for the best receiver in the game? If I didn't get a top 10 pick for him, I would have just kept him.
Geez. Baltimore had a good enough Defense to win the superbowl last year. That team is going to be viscious on offense and defense now.
How old is Rice? Brown? How old was Monk his last Pro Bowl year? Largent? Carter? Barring serious injury, top flight WR's often have very productive 30s, in many case better than their 20's.
Assuming Owens has 4 great years left in him, its not worth it if you feel you can get good young player who's going to be on your roster for a while. First Round picks are very valuable in the NFL through the whole round. Its not like drafting late in Basketball.
