The team opens training camp Tuesday in Santa Barbara. Brunson, a guard, averaged 3.0 points and 2.1 assists in 40 games with Chicago and Toronto last season. Morris spent last season with Columbus of the NBDL. The forward averaged 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in seven games for the Clippers in the Summer Pro League. Morris was drafted by Atlanta in 2001 and played for Houston during the 2002-03 season. Fleming played with the NBDL's Huntsville team and the USBL's Pennsylvania team last season. Holman, a forward-center, also played with Pennsylvania of the USBL, averaging 8.8 points and 6.7 rebounds. He played six games for Phoenix's entry in the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league.
Drafted by Atlanta in the Second Round (34th pick overall) of the 2001 NBA Draft ... Acquired from Atlanta for a future first-round draft pick on 6/27/01 ... The draft pick the Rockets will send to the Hawks was acquired on 1/22/99 from Philadelphia, which had originally obtained the pick from Detroit on 12/18/97 ... The pick conveyed from the Pistons to the 76ers to the Rockets and then the Hawks can be any first-round draft pick that Detroit acquires in the 2003 or 2004 NBA Drafts ... Signed with Houston on Sept. 7, 2001. It's little more complex
LATE first round pick. I.e., guaranteed contract. Early 2nd round picks seem much more valuable than late first round picks, if you asked me.
What's funny is Morris is part of what we once thought would be our starting line up of the future..... PG Steve Francis SG Cuttino Mobley SF Terence Morris PF Eddie Griffin C Kelvin Cato I'd say its a far cry from our line up as of now.....
hmmmmmm..... yao-cato griffin-moT posey-Tmo cat- steve-mooch vs. yao-deke JH-moT jj-boki tmac-sura ward-lue
There's more to shooting than 3 pointers. I won't make an argument that Morris is that great a shooter, but I keep seeing this logic. You don't have to have range out to the arc to be a good shooter. If you can hit mid-range shots with a high degree of accuracy, you're a valuable shooter. On the Rockets, Mo T and Yao are two examples of good shooters that you still don't want jacking up shots from the arc.
Mo is a 4 and Yao is a 5. The requirements of a player vary by position. Just as Francis is considered a good rebounder, despite a career average of about 6 boards a game, the shooting range required of a PF and C is vastly reduced, because those positions score mostly in the paint. At the small forward position, you have players like Larry Bird and Peja Stojakovic, so the bar for being considered a good shooter is a bit higher, IMO.
