He'll be on at 6 p.m. on ESPN2. It will give some of ya'll, who are already looking toward the future, a chance to see a very talented player.

i guess we are going to have to live with talking about college basketball players on an NBA board headed for the lottery.

So, anyone want to give me an analyis of Troy Murphy without making white comparisons. tell me about his jumper, turnaround jumper, dribbling, passing, quickness, moves, leaping.

That's got to be the performance of the year for a single player, so far. The star of a one-man team on the road against the best.

"And with the 7th pick of the first round of the NBA draft the Houston Rockets select....Troy Murphy, Forward from Notre Dame University." I wish.

Well i watched the last minute..

    Maryland lost by 2 points..

They were down two with 35 seconds.. Morris backs in and in and a hook.....AIRBALL..

But then someone knocks it out so maryland ball.

Then they score on a easy basket by someone i dont know. [IMG]

Then with 20 seconds.. GAME TIED>.

NC STATE no timeout ran the floor , stopped and the pg for them ran in and scored with like 3 seconds left.

Maryland no timeout, threw it to MORRIS, morris had a good look at a 3 from like 5 steps back from the 3 line, Pretty close to the half court line and then it kind of look like it might go in but then it hit the rim and missed.

Morris sad, walked off the court. THATS ALL I SAW, I dont know how much he scored though.
But if some of you guys dont know him, he is a small forward, 6'9 and umm... he looks like a TOOTHPICK.

    SooneRocSo,

Wouldn't it be great if Mims, Martin, Morris et al continue to be picked ahead of the best M of them all...Murphy...at least statistics-wise.

I don't see how this guy continues to produce with no support against excellent teams.

Problem is: ND players never seem to leave early. The last ND player to leave early was Adrian Dantley as a junior. Isn't that correct?

Clutch, can we get an NCAA forum for things like this?

Without a good defense, there is no offense.

We don't need no stinking badges!!! We need some stinking WINS!!!

    Francis3,

Morris had 20pts, 12 rebounds in that game.
Thats added to the fact that he was double and triple teamed for almost all of the game.

No. Read my lips: no new forums.

This is relevant-- Morris is a potential future Rocket.

    heypartner -

    correct.

Murphy won't be going anywhere anytime soon. If he wanted to polish up his hoops resume and go to the NBA after two years, he would have chosen a much easier path than U of ND.

Keeley...have you seen him play? Wasn't he the highest tauted freshman last year. oh nevermind. you're right. no use talking about him.

BrianKagy: no new forums...i can empathize with that. those Kenyon Martin weekly updates are just part of life as a lottery team. ugh.

Heypartner-When our biggest need is forward, I don't see anything wrong with keeping updated with the top PF in the draft. Plus, unless we can get a high enough pick to get Morris, I'd be updating on him too. [IMG]

I think that he was Big East rookie/freshman of the year last year. I haven't seen him play in person (though several times on TV), but I plan on going to a couple of games in the spring to see for myself.

At first he reminded my of Pat Garrity, but I think he'll be much better. Murphy's more dominant inside than Garrity was. He's been as consistent as can be, and he's only getting better - he's only a sophomore. Finally something to get excited about wrt ND hoops!

OK...now you got me involved, when i just wanted info a murphy [IMG]

your statement "top PF in the draft" is premature and not likely accurate. You'd be more accurate saying the Top NCAA senior PF.

Look at 1998's Best PF was Dirk Nowitzki #9 Germany, Al Harrington (HS)

Look at the top performing 1997 PFs (after Van Horn) #8 Foyle, #10 Fortson, and #14 Maurice Taylor all Juniors. i count duncan as a center here.

1996 Shareef (freshman), Ilgauskas 15/8 3 yrs running...Lithuania, Jermaine Oneal (HS)

    should we go on...

my point is top Seniors are not top available. less and less. any lotter talk should discuss underclassman and europeans...but that is premature...soooooo-that's the point about draft talk being premature.
