http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sports/display.cfm?storyid=18535 Francis: "As of right now, Terence is our swingman of the future..."
Boy, that was a nice homey article. I like the Francis quote but it seem to have left out Thomas. I know everyone cannot be mentioned but how could he make a statement like that and leave out Kenny and mention MoT.
I was mpt referring to the swingman point. "As of right now, we're planning for Terence to be our swingman of the future," Francis said. "By this time, he's played 50-some games. It's like two seasons to him. He's kind of hit the rookie wall. But this summer and coming into next season, we're looking for him to be that (next) punch with me Cuttino (Mobley), Maurice Taylor and Eddie Griffin."" Kenny Thomas as not listed as a punch with Mobes, MoT and EG. That is what I found strange since Kenny has proven that he can be a scoring punch.
C/PF-Griffin C/PF-Taylor SF-Morris SG-Mobley PG-Francis Is that the team Francis envisions? Where is Cato? Where is Kenny? I think that Francis realizes that the team of the future is short enough without Kenny. Sure Kenny is sparkling at the SF but he is a natural PF, the league will likley catch up to Kenny's weaknesses as a SF.
Kenny and Cato are either gone or comming off the bench with fro and Oscar Torres. We need a 9 man rotation, cut Glen Rice and save the money Les.
What are the deficient attributes that make Kenny a weakness at SF? I am looking for things like speed or footwork, etc. I just cannot see it myself. I trust we are not evaluating KT based on whether his man scores because a pick was set for him. If asked to guard SF's one on one, I expect KT to hold his own as well as anyone on the team including Tmo. I based that on his speed, height, strength, jumping ability and shooting range. In addition they have to be to stop him.
Anyone ever think that, if T-mo never pans out, and it's possible, that Francis won't give up on him, and we'll suffer because he wants his friend to play too? I mean, I can never ever see Morris guarding the Wells, Spree, Carter, Pierces of the league.
Sane, you're right he may never pan out... but then again he may. I don't know though, I can see him doing well guarding them, but I don't think he'll ever shut those types of players down completely. But honestly I don't think there is a player on the rockets team right now capable of guarding those players.
