Cuervo is just like Absolute....and unfortunately, Stoli is about like that now too.

They spend all their money on advertising, and damn little on their products. Cuervo sucks

For a good margarita, I like Suaza Hornitos and Cointreau (the original Gran Marnier) with fresh squeezed lime and a little simple syrup (sugar melted in warm water). Suaza is really starting to market Hornitos; hopefully, the quality will stay up. It's traditionally been the best 100% blue Agave bargain out there.

For sipping, there a quite a few different good ones out there. One that is easy to find is Patron Anejo. I'd certainly recommend trying some of the small batch made Anejo's, but be prepared to spend some money.

There's a reason that you can spend the most money on Scotch and Tequilas.....they're the best alcohols out there.

    Awesome site
    http://www.ianchadwick.com/tequila/

    My recipe is:
    1 small limeade, frozen
    2 cups crushed ice
3 or 4 shots of good tequila
    Blend it in a blender!
    Makes about 4 glasses
BTW, I ALWAYS use a reposado tequila.
Not the cheap-ass white, not the expensive-ass aged. the middle one is just fine.

That frozen limeade makes'em taste soooo good!
    I highly recommend it!

    recipe i've been using lately:

    2-3 oz Sweet & Sour
    3-4 oz Tequila
    1 oz Triple Sec
    .5 oz Rose's Lime Juice
    Ice

blend well, serve in salted rim glass with straw.

note to self: need to try Oily's LIMEADE'ritas...

Patron Anejo is smooth....for tequila. If you want some really good stuff(expensive too) try Herradura Seleccion(sp?).

Tequila is good stuff, but it always gives me a really, really bad hangover. It never fails.

just make sure it is "cien por ciento" blue agave

100% blue agave, nothing else will do. I personally hate tequila, but when visiting the "Mayan Riviera" -- Cancun -- I drink 100% to avoid the dreaded hangover.

I have a whole bottle of Cuervo on top of my fridge, but I like Suaza better - just taste better.

    Ice - Marg Mix - Tequila - repeat - fall down :)

supposedly there'll be a price increase in tequila in the next few years because of the shortage of whatever ingredient its made from...heard it on NPR so it must be true.

AGAVE... it's made from the AGAVE plant... and the price of good Tequila has gone up a little bit for the past couple of years because of the AGAVE shortage... it takes YEARS for an AGAVE to mature... check out the ianchadwick link, great info on AGAVE's...
