If you play tennis, what kind of strings do you use, and what tension? I have had some issues with tennis elbow in the past year and started looking for more "elbow friendly" racquets and strings. Read that natural gut is a bit easier on the arm, and someone recommended the Wilson Shift to me - I had been using a Babolat racquet with random poly strings with high tension and turns out all of that is not so good for your arm. So I tried the Wilson Shift with natural gut strings (more expensive, etc.). Babolat VS Touch 17 or something like that. I also tried getting it strung with much less tension (48 lbs) than I used to play with. It seemed to be somewhat better for my arm, but I felt like I neither had a lot of control nor power. Decided to mess around and try to go for a hybrid string setup - mains the natural gut string above, crosses the Wilson NXT Power poly string. Back up to 56 lbs. Had three racquets strung like that in the country club. Quite convenient, you just drop them off and pick them up the next day. Have played a couple of times with that now, and it feels like I have a lot more precision and control and also power. The pure natural gut at 48 lbs almost felt like a Badminton racquet or something (I'm exaggerating, of course). Drop shots were too long, many forehands would sail too far, etc. Much better now. I just hope the elbow doesn't get worse. What do you use?
i have my coach take care of it, but i think it's bobolat. i think that's what the goat alcaraz uses.
These are the absolute best strings I've found. https://truproofficial.com/pure-rush-tennis-string-set-40-feet-12-2-m.html I use a hybrid setup. My tension is way lower than yours. I'm having much improved control. I've probably halved my errors of sailing the ball out. I think my tension is 47 and 51. Those strings also are super durable. Just do whatever tension works best for your game. But either way, those strings are a game changer. The Wilson Clash Pro (newest version) is a great racket for tennis elbow. The pro is heavier so it's got good pop. But still it absorbs a lot. It is great at the net, baseline, and serves. Babolat are great but not as forgiving on the elbow of that is an issue. I love the Tecnifibre rackets but those seem the worst for tennis elbow. I haven't had problems with that, but after playing with a tecnifibre racket, I started to. It's ashame because I liked what I could do on the court with it. Also are you doing any stretches and exercises for the tennis elbow? The five finger stretch bands have been helpful for several players on my team.
I don’t play anymore. When I played I’d use a 17 gage topspin or gut on the mains and Kevlar on the crosses strung at 62 to give touch with more durability because I broke strings every couple of matches. But that was 15 years ago. While I share an office with the tennis pros that string rackets, I’m not up to speed with that. Happy to answer pickleball questions tho!
I'm trying to remember the make/model of my raquetball stuff way back in the day (HEAD?) That was a kinda fun game I guess for a bit. I absolutely sucked at tennis. I could lose a ball over the fence like no other.
https://search.app?link=https://www..._campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl2,sh/x/gs/m2/4 That is the hybrid string to use with pure rush strings I mentioned earlier. Really a great set up for all aspects of the game.
