Well, this upcoming season will mark the tenth, yes the TENTH, anniversary of the Rockets' very first championship. Has it really been a decade already? Well, I suppose it has. It's what finally got me interested in the Rockets, and also the first year I went to a game, What I'd like this thread to be is perhaps a season-long memory of the first championship run. For instance, if there was a game on December 4, 1993 that you thought was great, post your thoughts/memories here. Pictures, video clips, sound clips, whatever. This will be the official retro thread for Clutch City '94. If you have any other ideas, post them here. Also, what will the Rockets organization do to commemerate the decade? (Off topic, but it's strange to imagine that both the Rockies and Marlins were born before the first trophy).
man, a ref in a new york knicks game must've made hakeem REALLY mad in that second picture. bout to get pegged. it is weird to think it's been 10 damn years. seems like another lifetime at this point, especially since i was only 12 during that season. since today isn't the anniversary of anything, what's the anniversary of beating the knicks to go 15-0? december 2nd or something? or did we squeeze the first 15 into november.
Considering the emphasis on "new," and the person(s) brought in to occupy the Rockets bench, I think the specifics of this anniversary year will probably not be celebrated.
Ohmigod this is a crazy and wonderful coincidence. I just got home from a bar, drunk. (off-topic). And for old times sake, I put on my old, tattered, torn up 93-94 Rockets champion t-shirt. I haven't worn this sucker in a year, but for some reason it just felt right. And then I see the shirt at the top of this thread. Ah, good times. Ahem. Sorry. To get back to Mr. Mooch's idea: surely they will have some sort of ceremony that honors Rudy T and all that he has contributed to the franchise. A "Rudy T Night" type of thing. Maybe that can be leveraged into some kind of ten-year anniversary party? Except for Cassel and Horry, the whole team could be there. How great would that be? It couldn't be opening night, obviously, since the whole point is to usher in a NEW era at the Showroom. But maybe sometime in December against a mediocre team, say the Grizzlies? That way you get a surge in ticket sales for a game that wouldn't normally sell out.
I need this poster! Can't believe it's been 10 years. I know the Rockets have been like life and death for me ever since then. It's gonna be a great moment when we celebrate the 10th anniversary winning our third title this year.
