Whats this,I do my morning check of the BBS Hangout and no one has posted a topic on the new so-called reality show??? I watched only because my girlfriend wants to figure out which guy will screw over his girlfriend first {plus I wanted to see the hot chicks} I think the show will be pretty cool, and I think the first one to screw around is the one guy with the shaved head and whose girlfriend {or soon to be ex girlfriend} had the yellow hair....whats his name?? At the end it showed upcoming episodes where that dude gets all pissed off and tells the camera to get out of his F%&$#@% face...........SWEET!! ------------------

I caught the show in between commercials on West Wing. It has some promise but I bet it gets old, quick. The dude's name is Bill. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
What was the yellow haired chicks name? I caught a quick glimpse of her...pretty good looking girl from the split second I saw her, but it might have been the hair that made her stand out. I hear they kicked folx off already? This is a stupid Idea for a show Me and some of my friends could act lovey dovey enough to get to the Island then just . . PPPAAAARRRRTTAAAYYY!!!! I think like Jeff said. . moral D-Cay at its best Rocket River ------------------
It was better than I expected. My suspicions are they picked some singles that already had an attraction to the coupled person. Which they had to do or risk no flirting. The girl in the Madonna video was hot. So were a few others that got "banded". The girl with yellow hair isn't too bad either. I heard one couple already got thrown off the show for breaking the rules. The African American girl was stupid. She Gets in a fight, then sends her man to be with twenty hot woman. dumb dee dumb dumb. But he was a jerk anyway. I think for the most part they selected couples that weren't sure if they wanted to be together, and for the most part, that is what they had to do to make this work. It wasn't bad, but why did they show you all the highlights. It seems like they gave the ending away already. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I read where the couple that got kicked off has a child together. One of the criteria for being on the show was no children. Their dismissal was filmed and will be part of an upcoming show. There are too many good shows on Wednesday to waste time with Temptation Island. ------------------
Amen bobrek, with Ed, The West Wing and South Park, Temptation Island won't be making my list (even though, like Sam, I did flip during commercials). ------------------ "He was under more balls than a midget hooker."-Bobby Hill visit www.swirve.com, coming January 20th, the top 10 films of 2000! and, http://www.geocities.com/clutch34_2000 for great Rocket insight by some of your fellow BBS posters!
That Wednesday at 8pm slot was too full already. There's The West Wing, which I never miss, and also Star Trek: Voyager (the final season, no less), and Drew Carey/Spin City just on the other networks. I wasn't going to watch Temptation Island anyway, but I'm sure not going to fit it in with that competition. ------------------ Houston Sports Board The Anti-Bud Adams Page
Roxran, I also have not seen a single second of Survivor. All I've seen of it has been from a commercial or two. ------------------ RealGM Rockets Draft Obligations Summary Gafford Art Artisan
I found it interesting to see all the insecurities, that each of us have, come out in various forms. Looks, discussions, and silence. I also thought it was interesting how the men and women saw very differently who was a threat to their mate. Jealousy is very interesting. Why did they ban that person from seeing their mate? Was it a flaw they saw in themselves that the single had, or was it a trait they knew their lover wanted? It was also very interesting how the two people that were "banned" from seeing each other connected almost instantly. I too have found that when I try to steer a girlfriend away from somebody they actually get closer to them. There is a lot going on in this show if you sit and watch the dynamic. I'm not saying I'll be watching this show, but for a first run, it was pretty good. ------------------ humble, but hungry. [This message has been edited by PhiSlammaJamma (edited January 11, 2001).]
I think what is being missed is that the whole point of the temptation is the looks of the other people on the island. Let's take a scenario: A guy who is in a relationship with a nice-looking girl goes to this island and is hit on by not just one but SEVERAL extremely attractive girls whose sole missions are to seduce him. Who knows, this guy may even get more than one girl at a time? The point is, their relationships must be strained in the first place to even tempt their fate. It is very easy to avoid temptation in a place like that. Stay in your room and order room service. Or, do everything together. This show was set up to exploit the feelings people get at the beginning of a relationship. It is exciting and dramatic but it isn't what a real relationship is about. Any couple who would agree to go on a show like that is probably suffering through relationship troubles already. This is just the final excuse to end up unfaithful. This reminds me an awful lot of the basic premise of the REAL bachelor party. Essentially, a bunch of guys take their groom-to-be friend out to strip clubs and get him laid some how or another as a way to "send him off to marriage." The concept sets marriage up as some prison and the bachelor party as your last conjugal visit. I've even read that bachelorette parties are becoming that way as well. There are now travel companies that will plan your "bachelor/bachelorette weekend getaway." Now, you get a whole weekend to screw around and "sew you wild oats" one last time before the death sentence of marriage. If you are single and want to party and have lots of partners, more power to ya', but, if you are in a committed relationship, it should stay that way from the time you commit right up through your marriage. If things don't work out, fine, but if you are out tempting fate, the relationship isn't that strong to begin with. ------------------ The way to use life is to do nothing through acting, The way to use life is to do everything through being. - Lao-Tzu
We just want free p*rn ------------------ "Its a good thing they don't make posters of European players" -Walt Williams after getting "posterized" by Zan Tabak .
Does anyone else feel this is a bit unapropriate to put on national TV? Who is watching this show? Is this something we want our kids to watch. How to fall to temptation? At least save this for cable! ------------------ its all good and fun till someone gets hurt ... then its absolutely hilarious!
Blame the Survivor show for this. I am probably the only person to have never seen a second of it, yet with the success; a spawn of spinoffs is happenning. ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
ROXRAN, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I liked Survivor, and it was pretty much the only show I watched last summer. What interested me (other than the girls' skimpy clothing) was the way the show turned from "contests for prizes on a deserted island" to Machiavellian back-stabbing, paranoia, and fragile alliances. But that's just me. The other shows that have tried to copy the mold have uniformly sucked. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
I liked "Temptation Island." I predict it's going to be a huge success: (physically) beautiful people, great scenery, and good direction and editing. I didn't watch "Survivor" (by choice), but the premise of "Temptation Island" is an interesting one: can a relationship survive outside distractions and how people deal with temptation. ------------------ "Breaking up is hard to do...[with] everyone trying to make it a parting befitting all the professionalism that came before. I think it will be a hit, I like the break from all the "situation comedies/dramas".........it`s not for everyone, but thats why they make the remote control. I guess its alot diffrent watching to see if 2 strangers will hook up than it is to see if 2 characters from say, NYPD Blue hook up and and than show a sex scene and Ricky Schroeders butt {I really didnt need to see that}........the diffrence is one is getting paid and one is not. ------------------
