It's my sister's Birthday Weekend Extravaganza, the big 17. Anyways, she wants to go to Taste of Texas, my brother and I are trying to sway her to pick Rio Ranch. My dad just said we're going to Hofbrau Steaks and since he's buying and my sis's bday was actually yesterday and we already took her out to Buffalo Grille, he might have final word. Now, I've looked it up and seen a mixed bag of reviews from B4UEAT, and a severe lack of reviews in general. I now turn to my Cluch bretheren for some reviews to see if this place will be worth the drive to I-10 and Shepard. It seems UT alums are extremely partial to this place, so I expect their takes to be more favorable. Anyways, is this place good or bad is what I'm basically asking.
I lived on Washington and Shepard for 6 years and for some reason never ate there. I think one time we walked in and it was so freaking smoky that we bailed. So the only input I can give you is : (1) smokey. And not the good kind. (2) my boss loves the place Of course they may have fixed their ventilation in the past 2 years....
Definitely not as expensive as the other places. Its decent but its just not in the same class. If your sister wants you guys to shell out a few bucks, then go to one of the nicer places. HHofbreau is actually a good place for nice lunch.
I've eaten at Hofbrau Steaks in the Dallas area. They were ok, nothing great. If it's the same Hofbrau that's here in the Dallas area, I think it's a chain restaurant. I've only eaten there once before we decided it wasn't worth the drive to go eat there. Look for some review places online for Houston restaurants.
I've been to Tony's, Vic and Anthony's, Capital Grill, Taste of Texas, Churasscos and Ruth's Chris. My personal favorite is Vic and Anthony's. I want to try Buffalo Grill now. (I go to UT)
True . By the way, bigtexxx, if your travels ever take you to Munich again, let me know, I'll take you to a beer garden .
Buffalo Grille is great, but it's not a steak house, incase you were thinking that. I went there for the first time and they serve breakfast all day. I was let down by the Huevos con chorizo because it wasn't chorizo, they just used crumbled american sausage. The pancakes are the reason to go there. They are the size of a saddle blanket. Seriously, one pancake covers a large plate entirely. We went there around lunch time and I got a good look at other people's food. The chicken tenders look freaking great and I plan to go back to try that. They have Chicken Fried Steak, so I'll go back again for that, and they also have a buffalo burger, I'm always down for buffalo meat.
Ah... Thanks for the post cause I was under the impression that it was a steak house. Oh well. I love breakfast places. Magnolia rocks.
I went to Hofbrau within the last month. I say thumbs down. Yeah, they have UT decor all over the place, so I can see why some Longhorns would like it. But the food could definitely stand to be better.
