I think I'm finally ready to make the leap from cable (Time Warner) to satellite (probably DirecTV). The recent cutting of HDNet is just the icing on the cake (and I rarely even watched it...other than DVRing movies). So, I guess I'd like to see what the knowledgeable and experienced members of clutchfans has to say.
    1. Who do you use?
    2. Who have you had problems with in the past?
    3. Why do you like/dislike your current provider?
    4. Are you and HD addict like myself?
    5. Any other input you care to share?

I'm sure I'm not the only one. I tried searching for a similar poll, but couldn't locate one.

Thanks for your time, clutchfans. You have always been a great resource.

I've had them all and UVerse is the way to go if you can get it

I still don't understand why people who have UVerse rave about it and at the same time admit that the HD picture quality is inferior to satellite and cable.

In my experiences, DirecTV is the best, but you can't always get satellite hooked up (trees in the way, apartment/lease restrictions). Plus, you have to get internet through someone else.

Anything BUT Time Warner for cable. If Grande's in your city, that's the best alternative.

I like the DVR box features but not the HD PQ. All my promos are up. It's time to switch to DirecTV. I hope I get it installed in time for Wimbledon though. I want the 6 court action.

We have Direct TV...only problem with it is that it goes out during bad weather.

My promos with ATT were up too, but after telling the rep I was going to downgrade, she gladly gave me 6 more months to indulge in it. Also upgraded my internet speed, for the hell of it.

I've had it for a couple years now, and the only time it has gone out was during Ike.

Why would you leave Dish Network out of the poll? Although you have "other" satellite provider, Dish is a major player.

Thats the exact reason I'm going to switch to Cable once my contract is up. I'm so tired of AT&T's DSL service. It goes out when the weather is bad, yet my satellite works fine. How weird is that?

Because the HD picture is only slightly worse than Comcast and the customer service is 100x better, the boxes don't crap out all the time, it's much more user friendly, total home DVR and it's cheaper.

You can check the prices on DirectTV website. It all varies with us. Pretty often, they have promotional offers going on.

I pay $50 for the second tier package with 2 standard receivers. I used to have DVR, but it crapped out on me. I also miss by Bellsouth bundle savings. Once again... FU AT&T.

I have Verizon FiOS, which is the California version of the AT&T Uverse. The picture quality and available channels do not compare with DirecTV or Dish, but since my TV isn't top-of-the-line I'm pretty satisfied. The thing about fiber optics is the fantastic internet service, and for me I just ordered the TV-internet bundle and save some money.
