I just saw this guy interviewed on The National Geographic Channel's Base Camp.

What do you all think of his philosophy? He is one bright-eyed articulate dude. How about Ted for Secretary of the Interior? :D

Tie him up and force feed him broccoli and cauliflower for a year, with a brussel sprouts chaser. He'll wind up wearing birkenstocks, cutoffs and a tie-dyed T-shirt, and playing heavy metal versions of "Sugar Magnolia" and "Friend of the Devil".

Perhaps "wild-eyed and raving" is a more accurate description.

I think a Washington appointment may be difficult to swing for the Motor City Madman. Unfortunately, Ted has a long and well-documented history of banging underage teen girls -- this may not sit too well with the current "family values" mood in the capitol. (Too bad Ted's political views didn't mesh better with the Clinton administration -- he'd have been a shoo-in ...)

Just like an editor-- pick an unflattering photo!

Seriously, he doesn't look like a 53YO rocker-- compare him to any of the Rolling Stones or the ones already dead.

I find the guy completely refreshing and I've never been hunting in my life.

I'm not challenging you, mind you, but can you put me on to some documentation of his underage philandering. This surprises me immensely.

I literally can't name one of the guys songs so I'm no fan of his music but I remember his from a few visits on Politically Incorrect and I've seen him with the Mrs. on Howard Stern a couple of times.

Just keep an eye out for VH1's "Behind the Music" on Ted. It's an eye-opener. On the show, he freely admits he was very wild, was unfaithful to his wife on a consistent basis and had an eye for the young ladies.

He was very taken with one teenage girl in particular -- she appeared in his videos and went on the road with him. In fact, he liked her so much, he somehow managed to become her legal guardian (she had just turned 17 and he was 30ish).

They talked to her now and she says that, although he was a nice guy to her, it was highly inappropriate since she was still so young. Ted, on the other hand, still can't understand what all the fuss is about. He claims that he was a much better first lover for her than some dumb high school boy.

The incident is fairly legendary in the annals of rock music history, and even made Spin Magazine's Top 100 Sleaziest Moments in Rock History:

"63. Ted Nugent signs on as his teenage honey's legal guardian to make the relationship legit."

Of course, I'm not saying he hasn't changed. We all have the capacity to make new lives if we choose. I was just pointing out that political office may be difficult since Ted has many more skeletons in his closet than the average person.

    Yuck.

Ted sank to the same level as Woody Allen in my book.

There's also his well documented, outspoken hatred of Mexicans (or "wetbacks" as he prefers to call them), which wouldn't sit too well with the GOP's new outreach strategy.

    How's this for articulate, giddy?

    http://getoutaz.com/music/zztop0605.shtml

After a raucous version of “Wango Tango,” which he dedicated to the United States’ victory “over evil in Iraq,” Nugent suggested another use for the nation's firepower: “Let's get our guns and go down to the border and shoot those wetback sons of b****es.” While the murderous suggestion was scary enough, even more frightening was the fact that a good portion of the audience cheered it lustily.

And that's just the first thing that came up, googling Nugent and wetback. I'm sure there's plenty more to find by googling Nugent and other racist terms.

That is downright horrible. I don't think there is kind of apology that would cover that. Jeez, he sounds like some kind of racist Nazi.

Never really liked him. His conservatism sounds like the stale Pat Buchanan type stuff. He's the "angry white male." Most rightwingers have more constructive things to say about the immigration problem, even guys like O'Reilly.

The guy is a bit over-the-top. I'm not ready to convict and flush him yet, though.

So far the incriminations seem to grow out of his theatrics or his life on tour.

Is "wetback" really a racist term? Doesn't it describe people who have crossed the Rio Grande to enter the country illegally-- even if they are Germans visitng Mexico? Granted, shooting them onsight is obnoxious... but I want to give him leeway until there is further evidence.

If he calmly and calculatedly recommends that solution... well, that is another matter.

His "lover" was young but not underage. He did a reverse=Woody Allen. It's better than a Woody Allen!

Thanks for all the info about this mysterious man. I'll look for more. I'm checking out his website... it has a BBS...

Yeah, wetback is pretty freaking offensive and it hurts to be called one, you think its a ethinically neutral term? Especially when you tell people to shoot them all? Those wetbacks work their asses off cleaning your toilets and building your buildings (and ted nugents) for minimum wage or less, by the way. You and ted nugent should be grateful.

I can believe your apologizing for him, the guy is a first class ass clown and always has been. He says obnoxious, offensive things and appears to believe them. Just cause you're not a bonafide member of a hate group doesn't mean you're blameless when you say hateful sh-t to a crowd full of people.

Damn, I thought I cleaned my toilets and someone built my house, but I paid them for it ... what am I doing wrong?

Are all Mexicans wetbacks or are all wetbacks Mexican? What did Ted say?

I don't just happily accept what Nugent said, I'm just willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until I have more info. I'm not too familiar with Nugent.

The Nugent I've seen on interviews does not square with most of the evidence people here have trotted out to characterize (defame) him.

Do you have all that info or are you just a PC Nazi?
