I'd rather not give an excuse to Texas fans. "We lost to Tech, but Tech won the Big 12 South so it doesn't matter"
maybe OU should play a Heisman candidate every week......Wallace did nothing, and Kingsbury's done nothing so far. Come on Washington!!!!! Go get 'em Ricky boy!!!
You just knew Bob Stoops would have his team ready with the Big 12 South title on the line. His defense doesn't give up 600+ yards. 23-0
To compare what Texas did at Lubbock to what OU is doing in Norman is a complete joke. If Texas were to play Tech in Austin, I'd virtually bet my life that we win easily.
Yeah, it's too bad Tech averages 50 points per game at home, compared to 28 points per game on the road. Or that they are 6-1 at home, compared to 2-3 on the road. Or that Kingsbury's numbers are significantly better at home. Exactly what part of this represents being a homer?
Tech's also played 5 ranked opponents on the road versus 2 at home. I know what it is. Tech got lucky last week. No? Come on. One of Kliff's 6 td passes had to have been a fluke.
our defensive scheme would have been just as bad at DKR Mem. as it was in Lubbock. coaching knows no location.
So if Texas blows away A&M, I can't compare UT/A&M and OU/A&M because UT plays A&M in Austin while OU played A&M in College Station? Give Tech credit for last week. Tech "bamboozled" Texas. On that day Tech would have won anywhere. Anything else is just making excuses.
Actually, it was, if you think back to the first half when he threw up that prayer and Welker happened to take it out of the air and run into the end zone. And the ranked team argument is weak. For example, A&M and ISU are not teams that deserve to be ranked, but were when they played Tech because of a weak schedule allowing them to pad their record. Missouri and Oklahoma State are probably better than both-- in fact, they both beat A&M. It's not just this year. Tech's a very similar team to last year, but we beat them 42-7. Why? The game was in Austin. Over the years, Tech is simply a much superior team at home, like Nebraska at Lincoln. Obviously it's not the same dominance, but the gap between their home and road performances is.
are these TBS games on national TV? it seems to me every time I watch one, it has been Big XII competition exclusively. Is TBS broadcasting regionally somehow, even though they're a national network?
No, they wouldn't have. They won by four freaking points. If not for Texas jumping offsides while up 14-0, Tech might never get the momentum, and it's a blowout. If it was in Austin, perhaps the defense is more calm and not jumping all over the place and playing undisciplined. Perhaps Texas doesn't have to waste their three timeouts because of crowd noise if it's in Austin, and they could've stopped the clock with two minutes left. Tech averages 50 points in Lubbock; 28 on the road. They're 6-1 at home; 2-4 on the road. Do you really think that home field meant less than four points, especially in this series? Last year, in Austin, we won 42-7. This year, in Lubbock, we lost, and in 2000 we only won by single digits. Do you really think our team in 2001 was that superior to the others, or is it possible that maybe, just maybe, Tech is a great home team? I give Tech all the credit in the world... they beat us fair and square. But to think that homefield wasn't a factor is a little ridiculous. Also, your first statement is correct. You've seen the differences in our performances at home vs. Kyle Field... Kyle Field is one of the toughest places to play in the nation, especially for a big game. If A&M played OU in Norman, I think OU wins by 20-25 points. Also, SCF, I'm still waiting to hear why I'm a homer for thinking Tech is a better team at home with all the overwhelming statistical evidence supporting it...
Just something to ponder while we consider Tech's PPG at home and on the road. Record of Tech's home opponents: 38-31 Record of Tech's road opponents: 52-29
