I am turning to my fellow tech gurus at Cf.net to answer this question because I am too lazy to google it. I built my 4 year old a computer this summe rand gave it to him for his birthday. About a week ago he was using it (he is actually pretty good at it) but he was leaning over to get something and slipped off the chair. When he did he snapped the cd-tray off one of the cd-roms. My question is this: Can you replace trays on a cd-rom? If so how is it difficult to get into them? I am very technically inclined and have now trouble doing these things, but I have never tried this before and wanted to see if anyone else had.
I think that with some crazy-glue and opening the thing up, you could glue the broken CDROM tray back onto the unbroken part. Of course, it'd have to be a really clean break . . . I've never done that before though. It just seems like something that could possibly work . . . With CDROMS at less than $20 though, it's not a huge deal if it doesn't work . . .
It was a burner so it would be a little more than that. I have a ton of old cd-roms at work so trays aren't a problem to get a hold of.
you can always try but honestly it is just so much cheaper to just replace it with a new burner. there are so many out there at Fry's and other places that are dirt cheap either on their own or after rebate.
Here you go. There are a bunch of burners in the $30 range i use them for my comapnies parts all the time. http://www.axiontech.com/search.php...0&kspg=0&ksspg=0&ttl=on&orginize=&coktype=nor If it doesn't come up just do a search for cdrw 52x and you will find them.
Drink holder? To be a real geek, you need one of these : A combination drink holder/cigarette lighter for a 5 1/4" bay in your PC. http://www.xoxide.com/xray1.html

Check out their site: Fry's I don't know how the deals on their site differ from instore. Also check out http://www.NewEgg.com
Try out NewEgg. I did a search for burners up to $40 and I got some good brand name and no name brand burners. http://www.newegg.com/app/manufact.asp?catalog=5&DEPA=1
