Great news. He's obviously more approachable in college, so it will give more people an opportunity to better their lives by simply meeting him. I wonder if someone will start offering Tebow Pilgrimage Vacation Packages so we all have the means to bask in his aura?
The scouting websites say he's no better than a 3rd round pick. Why leave for the pro's early when he's pretty much treated like a king at UF. Barring a major injury he'll still be in the same draft range next year and under the extreme circumstance that he does suffer a career ending injury next year, he doesn't seem like one to be too distraught over it. Good decision Tebow.
Yea. There's been talk about putting him under center in their blowout games to give some looks at standard pro formations. Suck on that John Brantley.
Was there really any doubt? He wasn't projected to be anything more than a 3rd round pick and nobody expects him to play QB in the league which he seems pretty adamant about doing.
I'm going to tell you a true story. I had front row tickets for one of the Gator games last year. After we won, Tebow did a lap around the stadium giving everyone in the first rows a high five. I got to touch him. And everything in my life has been on the upswing since that day. Coincidence? Maybe; maybe no.
So UF will be the preseason #1 and the media won't stop talking about him. Yet at some point in the season they will flop and be seemingly out of the title race, only to have the media remind us of who their QB is again and UF will once again be in a position to play for the "championship" in this flawed system. I'll go ahead and say Bama upsets UF in the SEC title game next year.
While breaking in a new starting QB and after losing their two biggest studs on the o-line? Unlikely, though I suppose stranger things have happened. My early prediction is that LSU wins the west.
Good for him. Good for college football. Good for whatever NFL team that would have drafted him. P.S. I actually think he can be an effective weapon in the pro's -- just likely as a Wildcat player and/or as a TE or FB. If he's in the backfield as a "full back" or gets some play at TE you're always going to wonder what type of gadget plays are possible. He's also the perfect short yardage QB too so he's shaping up to be as big of a utility player as there ever was. I just wouldn't draft him in the first 3-4 rounds like some team would likely have to do had he came out early.
Yeah it's certainly a challenge to improve when you lose a senior QB and parts of, arguably, the best O-line in college football. However I do think Saban can get this team back to the SEC title game with the current talent. McElroy should be a solid starter. Certainly LSU has weapons, but I'd take chances on an unproven QB at Bama with their development over Jefferson (and the flake Jarrett Lee). Will be interesting to see what Ole Miss can do. I suspect they'll win a couple big games and lose a couple they shouldn't.
Awesome. Another year of watching the douches at ESPN blow their load while talking about Tebow every day. Awesome.
The Gators will be a strong #1 next year. Would professorjay (or another Gator fan) please break down their roster for next year. IIRC, they have a ton of freshman and sophomore players coming back. Alabama will have a tough time beating UF next year. John Parker Wilson wasn't that great, but breaking in a new QB will be a challenge.
I'll break down the roster for you real quick. Defense: We return everyone on defense except possibly MLB Brandon Spikes, but there have been reports that he may announce he is going to stay. If so, we return an entire defense that was straight nasty this year. USC of the east coast if that happens. We also gain a lot of depth last year as we had a few season ending injuries to players in spring and fall practice (our slated starter at SS tore his ACL in the spring, best 2nd string LB also tore ACL in fall practice). Offense: Tebow returns, our top-3 RBs return. We will likely lose Percy Harvin, which will hurt the most (though there is a sliver of hope that he is coming back as he said at the championship celebration today that he is leaning on returning). We'll lose starting WR Louis Murphy, who has been a great deep threat the past two years. Losing Percy will suck, but among Gator fans there is little worry about our WRs since there is quality waiting in the wings. We will lose 2 offensive linemen (both of which are OTs), but some players were able to get some playing time at those spots this year because of injuries to one of the starters. ST: Lose our starting kicker. Brandon James, one of the best punt/kick returners in the nation returns. Chas Henry, one of the best punters in UF history returns. Bottom Line: At maximum, we lose 4 starters on offense (two WR, two OT), 1 on defense (MLB), and our kicker.
UT, UF, and USC are clear favorites... UT lost ogbonnaya (he sucks though) and Cosby... but I cant wait til they play Buckner, Malcolm Williams and Brandon Collins more. Blaine Irby our TE will be back from a gruesome injury and our defense (mostly our secondary) will be better. We will miss our Dt miller and Orakpo, but Sergio Kindle is going to show that he is an absolute stud. My prediction? UT vs UF in the BCS bowl game
