I'm gonna feel like I'm cheating on one of my favorite actors when I go see one of my new favorite actors in this movie. And as much as I love the new Bond movies, if anything, Daniel Craig should be saying: Bourne. Jason Bourne. (and actually, I don't even believe that to be nearly as true as seemingly everyone else......though some of the fight scenes seem a bit similar, the two characters are vastly different)
I hear if this is successful, Matt Damon is open to come back and have.both in it, which sounds badass
I'm talking about IN the Bond movies.........people were saying that the new Bond movies (with Daniel Craig........and what I assumed peliencubas was referring to) were just more of Jason Bourne. I see a slight resemblance, but on the whole, I disagree. And I'm well aware of who Jeremy Renner is.........I'm pretty fond of his acting chops.
I read a few months ago (but can't recall where) that it might be a side story that happens concurrently with some of the events in the first three. At the time, Damon seemed a bit miffed that he wasn't invited to the party, so if Dave2000's news is correct, that is pretty cool.
Nice to see continuity with Pamela Landy and Noah Vosin there. One of the things I enjoyed about the original series was the seeming victimization of Bourne: he wanted to disappear but they wouldn't let him. I hope this has a story too
I read the Bourne Legacy book when it first came out. I don't remember much about it at all today, except thinking that it wasn't anywhere close to as good as the Ludlum books. I was disappointed enough that I haven't had any desire to read the rest of the series.
Like some have mentioned it's a sort of reboot & sequel to the last one. Events occur after Ultimatum supporting characters are still there. Main character is another agent who went through the program, Bourne is still out there but doesn't appear in this one. Like Dave2000 mentioned, if Damon changes his mind they could have another film with him and Renner but if he doesn't they'll still have Renner to work with for any future installments. Weslinder, I wouldn't worry to much about the books, the films haven't every really followed the book outside of the very start of the first one.
Oh, that was the meaning of the "Bourne wasn't the only one" caption in the trailer. So, it is another assassin at the same era as Bourne -- a "spin off," then. Sounds cool.
Probably the easiest thing to call it, from what I understand they do reference Bourne and events in the last one.
I hope this isn't one of those "hey let's ride the success of a previous trilogy and make a few extra bucks" type of sequel (or as heypartner calls it, spin off).
