I threw the Texans in because I heard an interview with Mel Kiper, I know he's not to loved around anywhere, stating that the Texans were a good draft from becoming a playoff team AND Super Bowl contenders... yeah I know, crazy. But I'm thinking he has a pretty good point.

The Texans absolutely need a back, someone that can at least make the defense let commiting to the pass. Another good offensive lineman would be nice as well.

On D we need a DT, a Safety, and a Corner. It'll be tough to do all that thru the draft plus possibly add another kicker, so I'm thinking free agency will help.

But does anyone else here think we're good ONE draft away from being "Super Bowl Contenders". I highly doubt that.

Below I added the teams Yahoo! thinks are one player away from being Super Bowl bound, which pretty much means they picked everyone in the playoffs that didn't make it to the SB.

Anybody that makes the playoffs is a legitimate Super Bowl contender, IMO. If you get hot at the end of the season and start clicking, anything can happen in one football game. It's not the NBA where there is virtually no hope for a low seed to get to the finals.

And, by the way, free agency has already come and gone ... there might still be some salary casualties to come along (but doubtful there will be many this year), and hopefully some diamonds like Bernard Pollard, to fill some of the holes.

Are you serious?! Dang, how the time has flown. I guess becoming a dad has really dropped me out of the loop.

So we really didn't make "Splash" for free agency huh. :(

I'm not buying into any preseason hype this year.

There weren't really a lot of splashes to make. Julius Peppers got a fat contract, and the Ravens traded for Boldin. Because of the expiring CBA, free agents that would have previously been unrestricted became restricted (such as our own DeMeco Ryans), thus killing the majority of the free agency market.

If we can get a DT, DB, and RB in the first three rounds (in no particular order), I think we'll be okay.

The Texans are definitely Super Bowl contenders. There are more than 6 super bowl contenders in the AFC and that means there will be some real contenders that don't even make the playoffs this season.

    DB = CB

I'd be more willing to go into the season without finding a new corner if Earl Thomas fell to us. Or, perhaps Thomas could play corner.

Should the Texans have a once-in-a-lifetime draft and get 4 immediate impact players (secondary, DT, C)...yes, I would think of them as contenders.

    2) Pro bowl
    3) solid starter
    4) solid starter
    5) pro bowl level
    7) bench contributor
