I don't know about you guys, but something that struck me watching the game last night was the fact that the guys who KNOW they'll make the team and probably have a good shot at the rotation (i.e. Morris & Griffin) really took a backseat and just tried to play within their respective games.

The Colsen's, Kelly's, Dench's and Sneed's worked their asses off but also took some crazy shots. I got the sense that, with the TV coverage, they were auditioning. Who could blame them? This is about them working for a living. I would too.

As for Langhi, he strikes me as a guy trying hard to prove himself. At times, he looks smooth and cool and at other times he looks out of control. I was encouraged by his play but his confidence seemed a little shakey.

As for Morris and Griffin, I really liked how smooth they looked. I never felt like they were having to strain themselves to do anything and I don't mean they weren't hustling. I just sensed that the game flowed very naturally for them.

I can't wait to see them on the floor with real pros defending them but, even more importantly, with real pros on their team. Francis and Mobley feeding them will make their games even easier. They thought they had open shots in the summer league! [IMG]

I agree with you, especially about Morris. He wants to play a solid team game, but some of his teammates are either not very good or they are showboating a bit. I think Morris is a guy who will be very effective when teamed with real pros.

I definitely agree. I see Morris being a good complimentary player. He doesn't have the ego to be a Marion, but I believe he has the competence to be a tall Shandon Anderson.

Yes, just wait till he's teamed up with steve. You know he was First-team All-ACC, and a top 10 pick after that year. He has lots of potential along with Griffin, but seem uninterested at times, but maybe that's due to it being a summer league game. Also Sneed and Colson are throwing up **** because they need to impress people. If they want to get any playing time or make a roster, this is about the only chance they got. Dench and Jensen arent too unselfish themselves. Just about every touch they got they threw up.
Rockets ranked in playing their roles
    1. EG-Unselfish, still drops 21, gets 5 blocks, plus grabbed good amount of rebounds in other games
    2. DL-Scoring machine, needs better defense, and not be so streaky
    3. TMO-more consistency needed, play to potential, play with more interest
    4. KELLY-good energy, solid but not spectacular player, plus he had that sick dunk

Not to be a devil's advocate here, but Morris was fumbling the ball away, turning it over, etc. throughout that game. It's one thing for your offense to take a backseat, but I don't think your defense or your concentration should ever do it. I was hoping to see a lot more of Morris, but didn't. Oh well, there's always the pre-season games.

Jeff, your logic is right on. I think Eddie will still be agressive playing with vets and T-Mo will basically be fitting in. It sounds like he just had a bad game last night.

Tozai, it sounds like you think Jensen was playing selfish. If so, that's riduclous. He was 3 of 6 from the field in 27 minutes with 6 boards, 2 assists and 0 turnovers. And I can guarantee you he was playing his butt off on defense. How is that selfish?

Rockets have been going to Sneed and Kelly offensively in every game, and they have done well. Especially Kelly. And, he has done something spectacular every game.

Also this was ONE game. Griffin played offensively better than usual and rebounded worse than usual, but he still played good and is looking much more comfortable calling for the ball. Too bad we didnt see the game against the Spurs, because Morris supposedly played pretty well then since everyone else was stinking.

Let me first say... this is hard to say...

Dan Langhi has impressed me. Woo that was hard!!!

Eddie and TMo looked good, Colson made some tough shots.

I will say it again , the Rockets will get 60 wins!!! 3rd seed in the West. [IMG]

Alex Jensen impressed me. Granted, he didn't get many shots, heck he didn't even get the bal lon the offensive side much. But he sure plays hard-nosed defense, has great hands, and was HUSTLING.

He was on the floor sliding for loose balls, stripping the big guys when they brought the ball low, stayed in front of his man, and even did a little banging down low when called for.

It's hard for me to watch summer league. The flow of the game doesn't..well....flow.
