Long post.....SORRY! It's no secret that despite this forum being either pro Brooks or Lowry that the guys are friends off the court. I know they were spotted at a Jay-Z concert together last year and are the same age and both play video games and what not, but after watching Kevin Martin's post-game interview with Bull he couldn't give Hill enough respect for his play in this game and against Atlanta and it seems like this locker room is really starting to click with all the major peices(minus miller) back in the rotation.. Obviously Rick has the players he's had before running his system again but youv'e also got Bud and Hill, who are long time friends, along with Martin and Miller. C-Lee and Martin have the same off-season trainer and have been practicing against eachother for some time. Even Terrence(who played his rookie season in NJ with C-Lee) has known Brooks from their days in Portland. We all kno that Battier, Bud and Scola all have a (mostly) white thing going, and apparently Miller and Jeffries are big outdoors guys and seem to compare hunting gear and such and get along very well too.. Chuck and Pat both played pf at the same college so you know they have either met before(I'd be real suprised if they hadn't) or have plenty in common.. Ish is always smiling and has a great attitude(nicest Rocket I've ever met) Chuck is just a flat out character with Battier(and Miller) no doubt playing the responsible veteran role...(if there are any obvious connections i left out let me know) I can't help but think that a team with players that seems to have so much history with eachother and their coach can make a locker room so much easier to be in ,and overall create a better enviroment to develop talent and win basketball games in... Kudos to Morey for building a team that contains very little drama behind the scenes!!(exception of some of T-Will's tweets) I feel like the background noise in this video displays this best.. http://www.nba.com/rockets/video/2011/01/17/JHill011811MOV-1526084/index.html I'm not sure how to embed nba.com videos if someone else could post it thatd be nice...
I think i rather have some more wins that no locker room issues. It's overrated. There's really just a very few teams that have significant enough issues to hurt their play. Usually, a good team can squash all that nonsense by winning as long as you have a few strong characters on the team.
Obviously some added talent would help the win column but the overall structure of the lockeroom can bring nothing but positivies even if we dont always get the W.
It seemed like every season there would be reports and rumors about locker-room tensions around this time of the season, usually involving McGrady or Alston and reported by Blinebury or Clutchfans insiders. Even Yao would be grumbling a little to the media if a losing streak went on too long. This year, the closest thing to drama has been Terrence Williams's tweets. Blinebury's not around to stir up things and bbs insiders have been very quiet.
One of the things I love about this organisation is its no tolerance for bad/troublemaking characters. We always choose guys that have sound personalities. I think those type of players have a huge negative impact on chemistry. They cause friction int he locker room too, taking out their insecurities on other people. We just dont need those disruptions. The last guy that was a trouble maker got his bum shipped - Kirk Snyder. I also hate guys that cause friction in locker rooms, the last two guys that I know off that had issues with team mates were - Rafer Alston and Trevor Ariza. Guess what both of them got their bums shiofted as well. It can also be argued they were let go of other reasons like bad plays or financial reasons. But I like to think its because they were a-holes and just didnt click with the team.
Yes; yes he does, in fact he's so tall he camouflages himself as a tree. When deer are least suspecting her picks them up with his right hand's thumb and index finger and devours them to feed his thirst for the tasty woodland creature. True story bro!
Our Chemistry helps on the court no doubt. But we have probably lost more games that we had a lead in the second half than any other team. And double digit leads lost is embarassing. Chemistry won't fix that. Only a defensive big and go to guy will help. We have the heart but lack a superstar. Yao is what we are missing but Camby and Anthony would probably fix that and they are not Chemistry guys or at least Melo doesn't seem like that. Chemistry is cool but wins are better. I would forfeit a little less chemistry for a nice playoff run.
Maybe that's the reason why we've been struggling. We've got too many guys that are friends with each other. You dont have any players that are getting in each others face telling them to get their heads on str8 and stop playing like SH** when they do. This is pretty much how i feel when i play ball with my friends - cant tell them to stop jacking up bad shots, cant get their faces about playing defense, cant get in their face about boxing out, etc. Say what you will about McGrady/Rafer, they got in ppl's grill and played with attitude and a bit of a swag. This team just whines and flops around a bit too much for my liking.
--- Agree - and I think is one reason we did not get Bosh - thankfully. And is why I don't think/and hope we don't get Anthony. They are not of the ilk that Alexander/Morey/Adelman want on the team.
Bosh didn't pick houston, not the other way around.....Melo is an obvious target. You can't turn away stars because they're not over the top good guys. It's ok to get other types of personalities. It's not like they are criminals. A lot of them have that edge to them because it's what sets them over the top.
Ooops - don't know why I was thinking Bosh - but wasn't he rumored mentioned as someone the Rockets were thinking about. Who was the guy with the trade that did not happen - Dampier? Another guy that does not have "that certain something" the Rockets seem to almost always have.
Actually I don't think that's true... did you see the post game interview with Chuck after the loss to the Hornets. He was all about telling it like it is. I think Battier may be more of a politician, but Chuck and probably Brad are no nonsense sort of guys.
What it can also be is a lack of passion. When a player is passionate about winning, they try to fire up there team and in some cases call them out to step it up. Take Kobe as an example, this man loves to win so much that he calls out his teammates and even his organization to step it up.
