watching the first two games, i've noticed that the chemistry isnt there and i know its early, but i already see a lot of bad signs. for example, the first night that kevin martin played with us against indiana, i couldnt help but notice on one play where kevin had the ball and ariza was on the other side of the court clapping his hands for the ball in frustration. Playing basketball, this is probably one of my biggest pet peeves, maybe thats why i noticed it so easily. And also, when brooks and martin are talking, the facial expressions dont seem right. I'm kind of worried how this will turn out. Is it me or anyone else noticing this from the first two games.
that's what happens when you trade the heart (landry) of the team away...everything feels a little off. beyond the stats, landry was a huge aspect of the personality of this team. but need not worry, we'll learn to mesh once again...
I'm more worried about this team's inability to make a defensive stop late in games. The issue with Trevor has been there from day one. I think the rest of the team has accepted that about him because I have not heard anything negative regarding him coming from the locker room or the players. I think it's way too early to make a guess about how Brooks and Martin get along but I would be shocked if both guys are not doing their best to co-exist and make each other better. They both seem like great guys who just want to win. A 7 footer who rebounds and blocks shots would make all of the "chemistry" issues disappear.
I think I saw the exchange between Brooks and Martin you are referring to. It just looked like "business" to me. Guards just talking about assignments and plays. Martin is a joker with a big sense of humor and is usually liked by other players. But it's hard to know how players will react under stress, and losing causes stress with everyone. If they were yucking it up and losing, then we fans wouldn't think they were taking the game very seriously.
With Lowry and Landry out of action, and the new players, what the Rockets have needed more than anything else is practice time. Hopefully these days off will do them some good.
Same with happen earlier this year with Ariza and Brooks when the former was screaming at him during a game. Sometimes, it takes a big emotional event to break the ice. Hasn't happened yet.
Everybody calm down, the look and feel of this team will all get better with time. When there are moving pieces, chemistry will often look weird the first couple of games.
There was just too much drama this season, and too many new faces. Chemistry takes time to build and if you trade too much, then chemistry will never happen.
Ariza should start demanding the ball when he actually makes the shot. Right now he is trying to build Mutombo a new hospital with the amount of bricks he tosses time in and time out.
Did you guys notice that Budinger is the bench leader now (at least until Lowry comes back)? He was leading the huddle before the game the other night.
OP, did you notice Kevin Martin would pull Battier to the side and scheme with him against Brooks. Martin and Battier are going put the beat-down on Brooks for making strange faces at Martin. If Brooks is out for the Magic game, we know what happened.
nope its just u jk.....dont make assumptions too quickly they will need atleast a month to start jellin
I notice after one timeout in the last game I think, Martin walked to the bench and Battier wanna to give him a five but Martin left him hanging and walked right by him like he wasn't even there. I thought that was kinda messed up but he was probably was frustrated cuz he was sucking in the 4th. too bad it was too late then.
typo^ I meant til in the 4th. he started to get going some there. but chemistry isn't the same as before. not saying it will never be but you can tell it aint like it was. our guys before would always stand and cheer on the bench but not its like they just sit there an clap.
As others have said, two guys who were the lynchpins of the roster are out (Landry and Lowry) while three new players have been added (Temple, Martin and Jeffries). So the lack of chemistry is expected. What's worse is that all the changes have happened to our second unit, which this team absolutely depends on for points. It's no wonder Budinger said he feels like he's playing on a brand new team starting from scratch. I think things are going to get better when Lowry returns from injury. He's just good at managing the pace and getting everyone involved. But with Landry's loss, the days of having the second unit come in and save the day are over IMO. On the other hand, the starting lineup with Martin should prove to be more competitive against opposing team's starters. The question is will it be enough.
i think there is just alot of frustration out there as a team. brooks looks pissed all the time which is why he keeps shooting and missing...which then causes the other players (Ariza) to get angry. if there is a chemistry problem i blame it on rick
