Did they announce anywhere who the team captains will be? does it automatically fall to the next tenured player? I was also never sure who were the captains last year.. I know SF3 was but who else? any ideas? J I think next year Yao / Tmac are co captains.. thats pretty tight!
I'm thinking JJ and Howard will be the captains. I don't think T-Mac has any desire to be the captain.
who were the captains last year? some team rosters denote captains by putting a "c" by their name, but the Rox didnt specify that and I was wondering if anyone knew. so no one thinks Yao and Tmac would be the captains? Is it done by age? tenure in the league? hmmm... interesting. I would have figured it's your two best players or your best player. J
JJ and possibly Howard should be the captains. If they can provide leadership it will make things easier for Yao and T-Mac.
I think Yao should be the captain. It would give him a sense of responisibilty for the team and a platform to put a smack down on players that don't pass him the rock.
In the best situation, calling someone a captain is just putting a formality on something everyoen already knows. He's the guy who lays down the law on the team. The guy who calls a players-only meeting - and actually accomplishes something there - when the team loses 3 in a row. He's the guy who screams at lolly-gagging scorers to freaking play defense on the break. We don't have a captain, actually, on the team. Jordan was a captain. Tim Duncan is a captain. Hell, Mario Elie would have been a good captain (if he wasn't). It's all about making the other players believe you know what you're talking about... then having the team flow around you. Being the coach's extension on the court.
I don't think there will be any team captain(s). I think JVG said something about putting a "C" on a jersey and how its dumb, it could have been something else though. But it doesn't really matter and it doesn't seem like anyone on the Rockets would think it matters either.
we need team captains. they call those player only meetings when the team struggles. i vote for Jimmy and Juwan since they have the most experience
but you have to remember, francis isn't on the team anymore, so we most likely won't ever struggle again.
