Has anyone ever applied for a teaching position in Houston? I hear that Houston really needs teachers but I don't know what the requirements might be, or where to start. I want to return to Houston but don't know if this is a viable option.
HISD? www.houstonisd.org If you are certified, go for it. Be aware that the actual hiring is now handled by the school principals.
HISD always needs teachers. A lot of HISD teachers leave for the 'burbs when they can, so there's a lot of turnover.
There are numerous ISDs in the Houston area. At the top of this hou chron article there are links to the surrounding Houston counties and all of their ISD's. I would then search on the ISDs at Google and contact them. There are some excellent school systems and I think they all vary in their requirements.
