Teacher Accused of Sleeping With Student Not Anomaly

One in every ten? I was never one of those ten after 16 years in school so far!

Now granted, I wouldn't have wanted to be with some of the teachers I had...but still.

 

one very ten, that is a very high number, i do not realy believe that, however it al depends on your defenition of sexual misconduct

I'm not sure if high school/middle school teachers are just horn dogs, or they just have an affinity for veal instead of beef. If it's the former, I think PTA meetings might replace bars as the new place to pick up women...

 

One in ten? Sounds pretty high to me.

I can't think of a single teacher I had the hots for while I was in junior high or high school.

Now....the teaching assistants while I was at UT-Austin are a whole different story!

 

I had a 7th grade English teacher that was very hot. Ms. Zamora. HO-LY JESUS!

Not only was she hot, she really liked Rush. For our poetry unit, she had us analyse The Trees, Jacobs Ladder, Xanadu, and Lakeside Park. OK, just kidding about Lakeside Park, but the first 3 are true. She's the one that actually got me into Rush, and thus, into drums.

 

If you count things like sexual harassment or other unprofessional behavior, I'm not surprised at the one in ten. There were teachers at my school, usually middle-aged men, who would flirt with students and sometimes touch them inappropriately if no one was looking. One of them was the band director and did all kinds of bad stuff for years until he finally got busted. Even then, for some reason, a lot of people were upset that he got fired.

This does not make it right or excusable. It just seemed to be almost inescapable in the world we grew up in. I never had crushes on teachers, by the way. None of them were anybody I would want to think about.

 

I had a history teacher in high school that wore white pants with no panties on occasion. But she was scary.

This teacher is hot.

From my experience teachers are very loose women so I'm not surprised at all.

 

I'm not surprised, but it's interesting they are only highlighting women in this piece, because the majority of sexual misconduct between teacher and student in education is by men with female students.

One in ten is not that surprising when you consider that it is estimated one in four women suffers some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18. Pretty scary numbers.

Well, of course there are exceptions.

I have a friend who is a teacher and whenever he brings out some of his female co-workers they are very wild. I would never want them teaching my kid by the way they act. However, they are fun to party with.

 

I have a friend that had an affair with a teacher in high school. I guess he could have gotten her sent to jail.

I think it might happen often in high school.

Many new teachers are in their early twenties, and older high schoolers are 17-18.

 

There was another one in NY that I saw...This trend is unbelievable...I tend to think why I never heard about this growing up, but now, its impossible to not hear about anything as it happens...

 

I think the only trends are that people are being caught and the news is reporting it. I remember reading stats about rapes saying that there were actually fewer rapes today than 20 years ago but it seemed like more because more were being reported and more were being covered by the media.

I think this is something that has been going on for a LONG time.

 

Being at a high school has really opened my eyes to this growing trend...not as in ogling students, but in that I have known of teachers that actually date their students, and there have been many accusation as well. As a matter of fact, I had to deal with a student that tried to initiate intimate conversations with me, and actually pressed her breasts up against my back in class as I was reading her paper. She told me that my wife better be treating me right or she knows someone that would treat me right.
