Check that out! It plays those little mini CD's!
It's got shock protection and you can store up to 185 megs on a 3" CD!

    What do you think?

yes! as long as your CD tray has that extra little 3" inner circle in it... which most recent CD/CDR's should have!!

Teac has a deal right now where you buy the player and get a protective case for the player and a package of 3" CD's!

Yup, although they're about 4-5 times more expensive than regular CD's that hold 4-5 times as much (unless prices have come down recently). I haven't checked in about 3 months. The 3.5 inch cd's have been out for quite a while, but no one could justify the price over larger cd's that hold more. I think Sony makes cameras that use these cd's.

Convenience factor, maybe? I dunno. It's amazing what people pay these days for convenience.

    RocketKid,

You're absolutely right about the convenience factor, but what's really the convenience in this? The whole unit isn't that much smaller than a normal CD player, is it?

Here's the one that I've been looking at.

    http://www.iriver.com/english/imp350.htm

It's 16.7 mm thick, has an FM tuner, can play mini cd's or larger ones if you want. It weighs .41 lbs (vs. .35 for the Teac). Has 8 minute compressed audio shock protection and 3 minute CD shock protection! It runs up to 23 hours as opposed to the Teac's 7 hours. The signal-to-noise ratio is better.

I'm not sure what the price is on each yet, though.

I'm reallyi still waiting for one that gives me an AM tuner, too, so I can listen to sports talk (other than ESPN) during work... :)
