Apparently from the rumor lower cap numbers, Clippers need $2-3 million extra cap space to sign Kobe a max contract. Any good trades with Clippers for our TE? Jaric, Wilcox, or their starting Center?
Maybe Dooling and Ely for the TE and a future 2nd rounder. Wouldn't be worth it for us, I don't think.
First, I doubt that Kobe will go to the Clippers. But if he does and they need to lop of either Wilcox or Ely to get the Max number I am sure they would do it in a minuate. And you would have a NUMBER of teams lining up to take on either of those players, especially Charlotte and Atlanta. And the Rockets would be fools not to use their TE to get either of those bigs IF they were available. With that said, again I dont see the Clippers getting Kobe, so it will be moot.
Ely and Wilcox were the two mentioned in the ESPN article. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&id=1839094 And I would trade LA the trade exception and two lottery protected first round picks for those two in a heartbeat. Wilcox would be a good fit for this team and Ely would probably be a solid backup C
