Try uninstalling TCP/IP, rebooting, reinstalling TCP/IP and rebooting.

Go through Control Panel, Network Connections and then the Properties of your connection to get there.

LOL! Naw homey, I have my real hair and am fairly articulate. But I wish I was as funny, damn!

I can't gain access to the internet via cable or dial-up. Wifey shut my computer down Saturday morning, and when I got home that night I started getting the error message.

    AB,

    What OS?
    DSL, Cable, Dial-up?
    Any router setup?
When was the last time it worked?
Your just accessing the Internet and you're getting this error?
    Did you reboot your PC?
Did you reboot the DSL/Cable modem?

    Give me some answers, maaaaaaaaaan!

    :D

but other computers connected to this cable modem (through a router I assume) can access the internet?

I would try what Pimp suggested first then

also update your virus software and run a full scan

Is this error coming up only when you try to start up your browser, or when you start windows? What OS are you running? Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig...do you have an ip?
