Is it just me or are the TC fans getting REALLY into the games. I have tickets this yr and also had them last yr and so far the atmosphere seems SOOO different. Fans standing and cheering and jumping up at nearly every shot, I can't believe it. This was only the case in a few of the games last yr the second half of the season (when we started to win). I remember majority of the games in the lower bowl people would only receive glares if they cheered loudly and jumped up; now instead of glares, others join in on the cheering! I really hope this continues but Im trying to figure out what caused this change. I mean, we suck just as bad as we did last November. It could be the playoffs last yr or the new rally videos or the tundra guys going to diff sections and cheering. It could be lots of things. Whatever it is, I like it. I always thought more people would come to the games (and stay for all of it) if the TC wasnt so dead and boring. Hopefully the fans will only get louder, more people will start attending games, and the rockets will be known like the stros to have a big home advantage (maybe) .
They were really loud last night in the 4th quarter. When they had the false belief that we could win that game.
I think it's a carryover effect from the Astros. People believe that, no matter bleak things look in the beginning, a championship is always a possibility.
It might be from Bill and Bull on the road telecasts begging the the fans to make some noise at our home games.
The TC crowd has been a pleasant suprise this season, despite how bad we are playing. I honestly wouldn't be suprised if the TC added some applause over the speakers, I remember being at a game a year ago or the year before that and it was pretty obvious the crowd was making as much noise as there was.
Honestly I think it's the whole underdog mentality. The last few seasons we've been expected to win every game, or at least put up a fight. When we didn't blow teams out, or if the game wasn't really close from wire to wire, the crowd felt disappointed or that they weren't getting their money's worth. This season, with how bad the team is doing and how many injuries we are dealing with, I think fans just have different expectations when they come to the game. They no longer take it for granted that we'll win or even be competitive. Therefore, when we ARE competitive and have a chance to win the game, they get all the more excited. I think they feel more like they are cheering for their kids or something.
Have been to a few games this season, and the fans have been pretty active. Nice to see, hope they keep it up...
As I recall, the Rockets had a solid week of off-the-charts season ticket and mini-plan tix in the week leading up to the season. I'd be willing to bet that most of these sales were to individuals and in the lower bowl. At all of the games I have been to, the lower bowl behind the backboards has been mostly full, while the club seats sidecourt are 50-75% occupied as usual. More fans in the lower bowl = more noise. The upper bowl is always off the charts. Second thing, the Rox have changed their game presentation a little this year. Notice that the music played during possessions is not as loud as it used to be, and is more geared towards increasing fan involvement. I shouted myself hoarse at the first 3 games i went to. Then my wife bought me one of those irritating little drums. Sorry if you are sitting anywhere near me.
I was impressed that the crowd was so into the game on Saturday. I was equally impressed that the radio broadcast called it a sell out, because the West Club looks 50% full.
what else can you cheer for in this town, except that the Texans may get Reggie Bush if they keep losing.
