Simple question. There is a small debate occurring in the D&D and I'd like a little clarification. Prior to Kanye West "doing her wrong" at the MTV music awards, did you know who Taylor Swift was? Edit: For clarification, the statement in D&D was that half the people on the board didn't know who Taylor Swift was prior to the MTV incident.
I'm not sure who actually said this, but they obviously have absolutely no grasp on this topic. I was at the Rodeo when she performed and it was a mad house. From little girls wearing her t-shirts everywhere, to teenage girls singing along, to college aged guys dancing in the aisles, to older parents singing along. Anyone who had not heard of Taylor Swift before the Kanye West incident has been living under a rock for the last 3 years.
Considering she's sold more albums than anyone this year, I would imagine most people would know who she was. She's the Shania Twain of the current generation. The only person making more money than her is Hanna Montana.
You can't go anywhere without seeing her mug, and you can't flip around any of the gossip rag TV channels without seeing it either.
i didn't really know for her until one of the girls i went out with was completely "in love" with her. played her music all the time. that romeo and juliet song was stuck in my head for days. so she's aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite.
What I don't get AT ALL are the accolades for her music. Seriously, how is this any different than Tiffany and Debbie Gibson's crap? I don't recall those two receiving many awards. Just awful, awful bubblegum crap.
Well, I'm not a fan of her music. I don't HATE it, per se...just not a fan. In her defense, she DOES write her own songs, which is more than you can say about 95% of artists out there. Sure, they may be bubble gum songs, but give her a break. She's only like 17!
Count me as one of the ones who didn't know who she was. Forgive me. I get all my pop tart news on clutchfans, and you all hadn't started a thread yet. I have heard of Anne Hathaway -- though not because of her movies.
